Job summary

Metalman Auto Pvt. Ltd. in India seeks a result-oriented leader to manage day-to-day manufacturing operations for automotive components and assemblies supplied to HMSI.

You will oversee sheet metal stamping, press shop, bending, welding, and assembly processes to meet daily targets and delivery commitments. You will drive improvements in line efficiency, OEE, and cost reduction while coordinating with PPC, Quality, Purchase, Stores, Maintenance and Logistics.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day manufacturing operations for automotive components and assemblies supplied to HMSI.
• Manage production activities across sheet metal stamping, press shop, bending, welding, and assembly processes, as applicable to the plant.
• Ensure achievement of production targets in line with HMSIs daily requirements, production schedules, and delivery commitments.
• Monitor production performance, manpower deployment, machine utilization, and output against planned targets.
• Ensure smooth execution of new product launches, capacity ramp-up, and production stabilization.
• Ensure strict adherence to HMSI production schedules, delivery commitments, and customer-specific requirements.
• Coordinate with PPC, Quality, Purchase, Stores, Maintenance, and Logistics to ensure uninterrupted production and timely dispatches.
• Maintain readiness for customer visits, process reviews, audits, and other operational assessments.
• Work closely with customer-facing teams to address production-related concerns and ensure timely resolution.
• Drive corrective actions for delivery delays, production deviations, and recurring operational issues.
• Drive improvements in cycle time, line efficiency, OEE, manpower productivity, and capacity utilization.
• Implement Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, 5S, TPM, and waste-reduction initiatives.
• Identify bottlenecks and eliminate losses arising from machine downtime, changeovers, material shortages, and process inefficiencies.
• Establish effective production monitoring systems and review performance against defined targets.
• Drive continuous improvement in manufacturing processes to meet customer expectations on productivity and cost.
• Work closely with the Plant Quality team to ensure consistent product quality and process adherence.
• Ensure compliance with approved process parameters, control plans, work instructions, and applicable customer-specific requirements.
• Reduce rejection, rework, scrap, and process variation through structured root cause analysis and corrective actions.
• Ensure effective implementation of corrective and preventive actions for customer complaints and internal quality issues.
• Promote a zero-defect mindset across manufacturing operations in coordination with Quality.
• Control manufacturing and conversion costs through productivity improvements and optimal resource utilization.
• Reduce material wastage, scrap, rework, overtime, and avoidable operational expenses.
• Prepare and monitor operational budgets, productivity targets, and cost-improvement plans.
• Ensure efficient utilisation of manpower, machinery, consumables, and production capacity.
• Coordinate with Maintenance to ensure preventive maintenance and equipment reliability.
• Minimize unplanned breakdowns and production losses through effective downtime monitoring and corrective action.
• Ensure availability and reliability of critical production equipment, tools, fixtures, and manufacturing resources.
• Support capacity enhancement, process improvement, and automation initiatives as required.
• Ensure safe working practices across all manufacturing areas and adherence to applicable statutory and environmental requirements.
• Ensure compliance with standard operating procedures, process discipline, and applicable quality management systems.
• Drive workplace organization, 5S, and a strong safety culture.
• Support customer and system audits by ensuring operational readiness and timely closure of observations.
• Lead production managers, engineers, supervisors, and shop-floor teams to achieve operational targets.
• Define departmental objectives and review performance through structured KPI reviews.
• Develop technical and supervisory capabilities through training, coaching, and performance management.
• Build a culture of accountability, teamwork, continuous improvement, and customer focus.
