Job summary

Career Management Services seeks an experienced Co-Head of Accounts to jointly lead the firm's Accounts & Finance function, covering accounting, financial reporting, billing & collections, taxation, MIS, compliance and financial controls.

The role requires 8-10 years in Accounts & Finance, with preference for candidates from Law Firms, Big 4 or other professional services organisations. Strong hands-on expertise in GST, Taxation and ERP systems is essential.

Qualifications

• CA preferred; MBA (Finance) or M.Com advantageous.
• 8-10 years of relevant experience in Accounts & Finance, including a senior role.
• Experience in Professional Services such as Law Firms, Big 4 or consulting firms.
• Strong hands-on knowledge of accounting, financial reporting, taxation, billing, collections, audit and MIS.
• Proficiency in MS Excel and Accounting/ERP systems.

Responsibilities

• Jointly oversee day-to-day accounting operations, GL, payables, receivables and month-end closings.
• Ensure timely and accurate financial statements, MIS and management reporting.
• Oversee client billing, WIP, receivables and collections.
• Monitor ageing and realisation rates; collaborate to improve collections.
• Prepare financial and operational MIS for senior management.
• Provide analysis on revenue, cash flow and profitability.
• Strengthen internal controls and financial processes; manage compliance.
• Coordinate with auditors, tax advisors and external consultants.
• Lead and mentor the Accounts & Finance team; drive process improvements.

Position Overview

We are looking for an experienced Co-Head of Accounts to jointly lead the firm's Accounts & Finance function, covering accounting, financial reporting, billing & collections, taxation, MIS, compliance and financial controls.

The role will work closely with Managing Partners, Partners and senior management to ensure accurate financial reporting, strong financial governance and efficient finance operations.

Candidates from Law Firms, Big 4, Consulting/Accounting Firms or other Professional Services organisations will be preferred.

Key Responsibilities

• Jointly oversee day-to-day accounting operations, including General Ledger, Payables, Receivables, Reconciliations and Month-end/Year-end Closing.
• Ensure timely and accurate financial statements, MIS and management reporting.
• Oversee client billing, WIP, receivables and collections.
• Monitor ageing, realisation rates and outstanding payments and work closely with Partners to improve collections.
• Prepare financial and operational MIS for Managing Partners, Partners and senior management.
• Provide analysis on revenue, collections, WIP, expenses, cash flow and profitability.
• Support partner-wise, practice-area-wise and matter-wise financial reporting, wherever applicable.
• Oversee GST, Income Tax and other statutory compliances.
• Coordinate with statutory/internal auditors, tax advisors and external consultants.
• Strengthen internal financial controls, processes and approval mechanisms.
• Monitor cash flow, liquidity and working capital.
• Oversee bank reconciliations and routine banking activities.Support cash-flow forecasting and ensure timely funding of operational requirements.
• Jointly lead, mentor and develop the Accounts & Finance team.
• Improve accounting, billing, reconciliation and reporting processes through systems, automation and process improvements.

Candidate Profile

• CA preferred; MBA (Finance) M.Com from a reputed institution will be an advantage.
• 8-10 years of relevant experience in Accounts & Finance, including experience in a senior finance role.
• Experience in Professional Services, particularly Law Firms, Big 4, Consulting/ Accounting Firms or partnership-led organisations, preferred.
• Strong hands-on knowledge of Accounting, Financial Reporting, Taxation, Billing, Collections, Audit and MIS.
• Strong understanding of GST, Income Tax, Financial Controls and Statutory Compliance.
• Proficiency in MS Excel and Accounting/ERP Systems.
• Strong analytical, communication and stakeholder-management skills.
• High level of integrity, confidentiality, ownership and professional maturity.

Preferred Background

Candidates currently working with a Law Firm, Big 4, Consulting/Accounting Firm or Professional Services Organisation will be preferred.
