Job summary

ScopeHR Consultancy Services in Chennai is seeking an experienced NPD leader to conceive, design, develop and launch innovative new products. You will shape the product portfolio and drive cross‑functional teams across design, production, marketing and sourcing to meet strategic objectives and customer needs.

The role covers feasibility studies, prototype sampling, customer approvals, NPD production, process improvements, and compliance with IATF APQP PPAP.

Responsibilities

Job description

• Lead and drive Organisation’s efforts to conceive, design, develop and successfully launch innovative new products.
• Shape organisations’ product portfolio, fostering innovation and achieving strategic objectives through the introduction of new products as per customer needs/ market feedback, in order to improve ‘Sales Volume’ & ‘Business Performance’.
• Responsible for feasibility confirmation, prototype sampling, customer approval for NPD, NPD production, process improvements, adherence to IATF (APQP & PPAP) & Process Engineering document, reducing lead time for sample submission, contribu;on to TEI (Kaizen, SGA & CFT)

NPD Strategy

• Conduct competitive analysis to identify new product development opportunities in collaboration with BD team.
• Assess the feasibility of product development through consultation and decision‑making with the MD & COO, based on feasibility reports.
• Develop the product development roadmap in alignment with business plan, in consultation with the MD, COO & BD Head and strategize new product development.
• Design procedures and processes for prototype development and subsequent commercial scale‑up of new products.

Project Management

• Formulate and monitor the NPD budget to ensure effective resource allocation for product development projects.
• Prioritize projects based on strategic alignment and market potential collaborating closely with design, production, Mktg/ Sales, PPC, Sourcing and other stakeholders. Facilitate effective communication and teamwork among cross‑functional teams.
• Manage the portfolio of product development projects, ensuring they meet timelines, budgets, and quality standards.

Prototyping and Testing

• Allocate resources effectively, optimizing the use of internal and external resources (tool/ pattern development).
• Coordinate with procurement/ supply chain teams to ensure timely availability of materials.
• Oversee the creation of prototypes and facilitate testing and validation processes. Define quality standards with specified limits of varia;ons for new products and facilitate the successful launch of new products.
• Monitor and review all the parameters involved for quality assurance and produc;on. Ensure products meet quality & performance requirements. Collaborate with sales/ Mktg teams to obtain necessary customer approvals and certifications.
• Collaborate with quality assurance to ensure that product development ac;vi;es comply with relevant industry standards (IATF (APQP & PPAP) and regula;ons at the plant level ensuring regulatory compliance and product development consistency.
