Job summary

Wishup is India's largest remote work platform and is seeking an entrepreneurial HR Head based in Bengaluru to drive culture as the company scales from 400 to 1200 employees. This full-time role partners with the founders to build agile people processes and lead rapid hiring while safeguarding the company culture.

You will design employee experience, lead HR strategy, payroll, compliance, and HRIS in a hands-on, growth-focused environment with opportunities to advance to Head of People or VP

Qualifications

• 4+ years of HR/People Ops experience, preferably in a fast-paced startup (Series A/B a massive plus).
• Proven track record of creating HR programs from scratch, not just executing existing corporate playbooks.
• You are comfortable being a team of one initially, handling payroll tasks one hour and high-level strategy with the CEO the next.
• Tech-savvy with modern startup HR stacks such as Rippling, Deel, BambooHR, Notion, Slack.
• High EQ and resilience with exceptional communication and adaptability to rapid business changes.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute HR strategies that support business growth; streamline HR workflows, onboarding, and offboarding processes.
• Serve as the primary contact for employee grievances; implement initiatives to boost morale, retention, and team cohesion.
• Drive annual/quarterly performance reviews, OKR/KPI tracking, and manager training initiatives.
• Identify skills gaps and implement training programs for continuous learning and career progression.
• Manage payroll inputs, evaluate compensation structures against market trends, and oversee benefits programs.
• Serve as trusted advisor to founders on team structure, conflict resolution, and HRIS management; oversee payroll and lightweight compliance.
• Address day-to-day people issues quickly and adapt policies as the company grows.

Role Overview:

We are looking for an entrepreneurial, hands-on HR Lead to build, scale, and protect our culture as we grow from 400 to 1200 employees. You aren't just managing policies; you are designing the entire employee experience from the ground up. You will partner directly with the founders to establish agile people processes, manage rapid hiring cycles, and ensure our culture remains vibrant and aligned as we scale.

Key Responsibilities:

• - HR Strategy & Operations: Develop and execute HR strategies that support business growth; streamline HR workflows, onboarding, and offboarding processes.
• - Employee Relations & Engagement: Serve as the primary point of contact for employee grievances; implement initiatives that boost morale, retention, and team cohesion.
• - Performance Management: Drive the annual/quarterly performance review cycles, OKR/KPI tracking, and manager-training initiatives.
• - Learning & Development: Identify skills gaps and implement training programs to promote continuous learning and career progression.
• - Compensation & Benefits: Manage payroll inputs, evaluate compensation structures against market trends, and oversee employee benefits programs.
• - Compliance & Policy: Ensure all HR policies, employee handbooks, and workplace practices comply with local, state, and federal labor laws.
• - Build the Infrastructure: Design and implement foundational HR processes: onboarding, offboarding, compensation structures, and a lightweight, high-impact performance feedback loop.
• - Founder Advisory & HR Ops: Serve as a trusted advisor to founders and managers on team structure, conflict resolution, and leadership. Handle the execution of payroll, lightweight compliance, and HRIS management.
• - Agile Problem Solving: Address day-to-day people issues quickly and empathetically, adapting policies on the fly as the company's needs change.

Requirements & Qualifications:

• - Startup DNA: 4+ years of HR/People Ops experience, with at least 2 years in a fast-paced startup environment (Series A or B stage is a massive plus).
• - The Builder Mindset: Proven track record of creating HR programs from scratch, rather than just executing existing corporate playbooks.
• - Execution Focus: You are comfortable being a team of one initially, willing to handle administrative payroll tasks one hour and high-level strategy with the CEO the next.
• - Tech Savvy: Expert proficiency with modern startup HR tech stacks (e.g., Rippling, Deel, BambooHR, Notion, Slack).
• - High EQ & Resilience: Exceptional communication skills and the mental agility to handle rapid changes in business priorities.
