Job summary

Genius Consultants is seeking an Instrumentation Service Engineer to perform installation, commissioning, calibration, operation and maintenance of instrumentation packages at customer sites.

You will troubleshoot on-site, support commissioning activities, and ensure compliance with instrument datasheets and project requirements while coordinating with end users and internal teams. Willingness to travel and work across sites is essential.

Qualifications

• Diploma/B.E./B.Tech in Instrumentation, Electronics, Electrical or related field.
• Experience in industrial instrumentation, field service, commissioning or E&I projects.
• Willingness to travel to customer/project sites and strong communication skills.

Job Purpose

The position is responsible for instrument installation, commissioning, calibration, operation & maintenance, troubleshooting, and site service activities. The candidate will be responsible for day-to-day site work and ensuring that instrumentation activities are completed as per instrument datasheets, project requirements, and customer work orders.

Key Responsibilities

External Communication

• Act as the front-line service engineer for installation, commissioning, calibration, operation and maintenance of instrumentation packages.
• Handle instruments including:
  
  • PG / TG / PT / DPT
  • TT / RTD
  • Dampers
  • Flow Meters (FM)
  • ON/OFF Valves
  • Control Valves
  • Transmitters
  • HVAC Instruments
• Coordinate with end users and internal teams for technical discussions, meetings, troubleshooting, and decision-making.
• Understand and execute re-installation, re-commissioning, re-calibration, operation & maintenance requirements as per customer requests and work orders.
• Provide remote technical support to customers and visit sites whenever required.
• Deliver high-quality service to customers and maintain strong customer relationships.
• Coordinate with partners and OEMs such as Emerson and other technology partners for technical support whenever required.

Internal Communication

• Coordinate with the project/site team for cold loop and hot loop checking of instrumentation packages.
• Coordinate with the Project Manager / Site In-charge for monthly attendance, site documentation, and billing activities.
• Share field/site knowledge and technical inputs with the Project Sales team to support future E&I project opportunities and service offerings.
• Maintain proper service reports, checklists, calibration records, and site documentation.

Key Competencies & Technical Skills

• Hands-on experience in Instrumentation Installation, Commissioning, Calibration, Operation & Maintenance.
• Good knowledge of:
  
  • Pressure Gauges (PG)
  • Temperature Gauges (TG)
  • Pressure Transmitters (PT)
  • Differential Pressure Transmitters (DPT)
  • Temperature Transmitters (TT)
  • RTD
  • Flow Meters
  • Dampers
  • ON/OFF Valves
  • Control Valves
  • HVAC Instruments
• Preferably experienced with Control Valves, ON/OFF Valves and different types of transmitters.
• Knowledge of Leak Detection Systems and Seismic Solutions will be an added advantage.
• Knowledge of cold loop and hot loop checking.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving ability.
• Good analytical thinking and technical communication skills.
• Proactive approach with a high sense of responsibility.
• Willingness to travel to customer/project sites as required.
• Working knowledge of MS Excel, MS Word and Microsoft Outlook.

Candidate Profile

• Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech in Instrumentation, Electronics, Electrical, E&I or a related engineering discipline.
• Relevant experience in industrial instrumentation, field service, commissioning, calibration, or E&I projects.
• Should be comfortable working at customer and project sites.
• Good communication and coordination skills.
