Overview
Role Overview: He/She will be a key member of the senior leadership team, responsible for driving the company’s banking and financial strategy. The role focuses on fund-raising, project financing, liquidity management, and optimizing borrowing costs while maintaining strong relationships with banks and financial institutions.
Responsibilities
- Fund Raising
- Strategically plan and execute fund-raising initiatives to meet the company’s financial requirements.
- Source and secure funds through traditional and innovative methods, including term loans, project finance, structured finance, and other instruments.
- Identify and tap into new funding sources and financial products.
- Project Finance
- Oversee the preparation of detailed project reports and financial models for bank approval.
- Manage end-to-end project financing, including term sheet negotiations, financial closures, and compliance.
- Ensure alignment of project funding with overall business goals and timelines.
- Liquidity Management
- Maintain adequate liquidity to meet operational and project requirements.
- Monitor cash flows and prepare liquidity forecasts to mitigate risks.
- Optimize working capital requirements and ensure efficient treasury operations.
- Cost Optimization
- Devise strategies to minimize borrowing costs through favorable interest rates and terms.
- Negotiate with banks and financial institutions to achieve cost efficiencies.
- Regularly review and renegotiate financial covenants to benefit the organization.
- Stakeholder Management
- Build and maintain excellent relationships with top management in both public and private sector banks.
- Represent the organization in high-level discussions with financial institutions to secure the best deals.
- Foster trust and credibility with lenders through transparent and effective communication.
- Innovative Fund-Raising Methods
- Identify and implement innovative financial instruments or structures to raise funds effectively.
- Stay updated on market trends and incorporate financial innovations to enhance the company’s capital structure.
Must-Have Skills and Experience
- Proven ability to build strong relationships with the top management of private and public sector banks.
- Expertise in convincing banks to finance projects and raise funds under favorable terms.
- Strong understanding of the real estate or infrastructure sector with a minimum of 15 years of experience in a similar capacity.
- Exceptional negotiation, analytical, and strategic planning skills.
- Sound knowledge of financial regulations, compliance, and risk management.
Qualifications
- Education: Chartered Accountant (CA) or MBA in Finance.
- Experience: Minimum 15 years of relevant experience, with significant exposure to real estate or infrastructure finance.
