General Manager Operations & Growth (Pharma / Biotech / Biochemistry)

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced, high-caliber, and strategic General Manager to oversee overall operations, business growth, cross-functional performance, and strategy implementation. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in the Pharmaceutical, Biotechnology, or Biochemistry industries, with a proven track record of managing large-scale manufacturing, R&D, quality control/compliance, commercialization, and team leadership.

Key Responsibilities

1. Strategic Leadership & Operations

• Oversee end-to-end plant operations, manufacturing, R&D, supply chain, and commercial strategy within the Life Sciences/Biotech domain.
• Formulate and execute short-term and long-term business strategies to align with company goals, revenue targets, and market expansions.
• Lead cross-functional teams spanning Production, Quality Assurance (QA/QC), Regulatory Affairs, R&D, Supply Chain Management (SCM), and Business Development.

2. Quality, Compliance & Regulatory Standards

• Ensure strict adherence to global regulatory standards (e.g., USFDA, WHO-GMP, EU-GMP, ISO standards).
• Drive process safety, environmental health and safety (EHS) guidelines, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
• Manage audit readiness and navigate international regulatory approvals for new and existing product lines.

3. Commercialization & Business Growth

• Identify new market opportunities, potential licensing partnerships, CDMO/CMO projects, and product portfolio expansion.
• Oversee Profit & Loss (P&L) management, budgeting, cost control, and operational efficiency initiatives.
• Build strong relationships with key stakeholders, regulatory bodies, key opinion leaders (KOLs), and international clients.

4. Team Building & Governance

• Lead, mentor, and build high-performing leadership and technical teams.
• Foster a culture of operational excellence, innovation, continuous learning, and accountability.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Education:
  • Bachelor’s / Master’s / Ph.D. in Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Pharmacy (B.Pharm/M.Pharm), Chemical Engineering, or related Life Sciences field.
  • An MBA from a reputed institute is highly preferred.
• Experience:
  • 15+ years of progressive experience in the Pharma, Biotech, or Biochemical sectors, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role (DGM, AGPM, VP, or GM level).
• Key Competencies:
  • In-depth knowledge of API/Formulations, Biologics, Biosimilars, Recombinant Proteins, or Industrial Biochemistry.
  • Strong P&L management, strategic planning, and financial acumen.
  • Comprehensive understanding of USFDA, EU-GMP, and global regulatory frameworks.
  • Excellent leadership, negotiation, and cross-functional communication skills.
