UK qualified lawyer

Job description

Our organisation is an all-in-one life skills platform — a scaled, profitable buy-and-build

business sitting in the space e between pure entertainment and pure education. Built through multiple acquisitions since 2015, our company has consolidated IP, distribution and brand into a single integrated ecosystem of category-leading digital and physical brands, operating internationally across markets including the UK, US and Brazil.

The role

You will be the organisation's lead lawyer. This is a hands‑on execution role, not a delegation

role. You'll run matters yourself, bring in external counsel where it makes sense, and own

the outcome.

What's on your desk from day one:

  • Deals. Domestic and international M&A at £150m+ — you lead the legal, from structuring through diligence, negotiation and integration.
  • Group structure. Corporate restructuring and entity work across jurisdictions, including live international reorganisation projects.
  • Governance. Board‑level advice on risk, governance and strategic decision‑making.
  • Commercial. Negotiating and executing the Group's most complex agreements.
  • Specialist coordination. Driving tax and IP strategy alongside external advisers, and managing counsel across multiple jurisdictions on a sensible budget.
  • Build. Creating lean, efficient legal processes — enough structure to scale, zero bureaucracy.
Who this suits
  • A UK qualified lawyer with 8-12 years PQE with a genuinely strong corporate/M&A background — leading law firm and/or a sophisticated in‑house or investment environment. This is the core requirement; broad commercial generalists won't be the right fit here.
  • Someone who has personally executed complex, multi‑jurisdictional transactions— not just supervised them.
  • A confident adviser who builds credibility fast with founders and boards, and challenges them constructively when it counts.
  • Resilient, adaptable and comfortable with ambiguity — you triage well, hold your nerve, and get things done without being handed a playbook.
  • Commercially curious, with judgement that extends well beyond the legal silo.
  • Experience in private equity, family office or acquisitive, investment‑backed businesses is
Why take it
  • Genuine seat at the table: direct, daily exposure to the CEO and leadership on the decisions that matter.
  • Deal flow and complexity most in‑house roles can't offer — international M&A, restructuring and strategic projects, back to back.
  • Full autonomy to build the legal function your way.
  • Equity participation: you share in what you help build.
