Job summary

Aster DM Healthcare in Mumbai is seeking a GDMO General Medicine professional to provide medical assessment and management for patients with common and acute conditions within a hospital setting. The role includes history taking, physical examinations, diagnostic coordination, treatment, and timely escalation or referral to specialists.

The candidate should have MBBS and 1–5 years of relevant experience in general medicine, and be prepared to work full-time in an office-based hospital

Responsibilities

• Assess patients presenting with medical complaints and acute conditions.
• Obtain detailed medical history and perform appropriate physical examinations.
• Develop preliminary clinical assessments and management plans within professional scope.
• Order or coordinate relevant laboratory and diagnostic investigations.
• Review investigation reports and monitor treatment response.
• Prescribe or administer appropriate treatment within professional authorization.
• Monitor vital signs and clinical condition of admitted or observed patients.
• Identify clinical deterioration and elevate concerns promptly.
• Manage common medical emergencies and provide initial stabilization.
• Coordinate specialist consultations and referrals when required.
• Conduct inpatient rounds and review patient progress.
• Coordinate with nursing, laboratory, radiology, pharmacy, and other departments.
• Maintain complete and accurate case sheets, progress notes, and medical records.
• Prepare discharge summaries, referral notes, and other clinical documents.
• Communicate diagnosis, treatment plans, and follow-up instructions appropriately to patients and attendants.
• Support admission, transfer, discharge, and referral processes.
• Participate in clinical handovers, case discussions, audits, and quality activities.
• Follow infection prevention, patient safety, and hospital clinical protocols.
• Maintain patient confidentiality, dignity, and professional medical standards.
• Escalate complex or high‑risk cases to appropriate senior physicians or specialists.
