Job summary

Drlogy in Kochi is seeking a Technician-CSSD to handle routine blood bank lab activities including collection, processing, testing, storage, and issue of blood components under supervision. You will perform ABO/Rh grouping, compatibility testing, crossmatching, and maintain accurate records and inventory.

The role requires 2–7 years’ experience and a Diploma in CSSD Technology or a relevant paramedical diploma. This is a full-time, on-site position in Kerala.

Job Description

Technician - Blood Bank is responsible for performing routine blood bank laboratory activities related to collection, processing, testing, storage, and issue of blood and blood components under appropriate supervision and authorization. The includes blood grouping, compatibility testing, component handling, documentation, inventory monitoring, quality control, equipment maintenance, and adherence to transfusion safety, infection prevention, and regulatory requirements.

• Receive and identify blood samples and blood units according to established procedures.
• Perform ABO and Rh blood grouping as authorized.
• Conduct compatibility and crossmatching tests according to approved protocols.
• Perform screening tests and other blood bank investigations within authorized scope.
• Assist in preparation, processing, and handling of blood components.
• Maintain appropriate storage conditions for blood and blood products.
• Monitor blood bank refrigerators, freezers, platelet storage, and related equipment.
• Record and monitor storage temperatures and equipment parameters.
• Maintain accurate blood bank registers, records, and transfusion documentation.
• Verify labels, identification details, and expiry information before issuing blood products.
• Issue compatible blood and blood components against authorized requests.
• Monitor blood stock levels and communicate shortages or near-expiry units.
• Follow proper procedures for quarantining, discarding, or returning unsuitable units.
• Support blood donation, collection, and component preparation activities where applicable.
• Perform quality control checks according to approved blood bank procedures.
• Report abnormal test results, discrepancies, transfusion reactions, or equipment issues promptly.
• Coordinate with clinicians, nursing teams, laboratory staff, and other departments.
• Maintain traceability of blood units from collection through issue or disposal.
• Follow infection prevention, biomedical waste management, and transfusion safety procedures.
• Maintain confidentiality of donor, patient, and blood bank information.
