Job summary
NPCI is hiring a Java Full Stack Engineer to design, develop, and scale mission-critical digital payments applications powering IMPS, AePS, and NETC platforms. Based in Mumbai/Hyderabad/Chennai, you will work on real-time, high-volume systems with modern full-stack architectures.
The role requires 3–7 years of experience, BE/BTech, and strong skills in Java, Spring Boot, React, Kafka, and microservices. You will collaborate with product, QA, and platform teams in an Agile environment.
Qualifications
- 3–7 years of practical Java full-stack development.
- Proficient in Java, Spring Boot, and Hibernate/JPA.
- Frontend experience with React.js and TypeScript.
- Knowledge of microservices and Kafka event-driven systems.
- Strong security practices with OAuth2/JWT.
Responsibilities
- Design scalable RESTful APIs using Java and Spring Boot.
- Build and maintain microservices-based architectures and integrate payment systems.
- Ensure frontend–backend integration for real-time workflows.

KeyResponsibilities
- Design and develop scalableRESTful APIs using Java, Spring Boot, and Hibernate/JPA for IMPS,AePS, and NETC applications
- Build and maintain microservices-basedarchitectures, integrating with internal and external payment systems
- Ensure seamless frontend–backendintegration for real-time payment workflows
- Work with event-drivensystems (Kafka) for asynchronous transaction processing
- Implement secureauthentication and authorization using OAuth2, JWT, and industry bestpractices
- Optimize applications for performance,scalability, reliability, and security
- Write unit andintegration tests, and participate in code reviews to maintainengineering standards
- Actively participate in Agileceremonies and collaborate with cross-functional teams
KeySkills & Experience Required
- Strong expertise in Java8+ and above, including core programming constructs such as streams,collections, multithreading, concurrency, and functional programming,along with a working understanding of JVM internals such as memory model,garbage collection, and class loading
- Hands‑on experience with SpringBoot and backend frameworks, including dependency injection, REST APIdevelopment, exception handling, and microservices-based applicationdesign
- Solid understanding of modernfrontend development, with React.js, Redux, and TypeScript, includingcomponent architecture, hooks, state management, and efficient APIintegration patterns
- Familiarity with Node.js-basedmiddleware concepts, including event loop behavior, non‑blocking I/O,and lightweight service orchestration
- Experience working with microservicesand distributed systems, including REST API principles such asidempotency, API versioning, request validation, and error modeling
- Strong knowledge of event-drivenarchitecture and messaging systems like Kafka, including topics,partitions, consumer groups, and asynchronous processing patterns
- Experience with SQL andNoSQL databases, including relational modeling, transactions,indexing, as well as NoSQL data modeling for scalability and performance
- Understanding of cachingstrategies using Redis or similar systems, including cache-asidepatterns, TTL, and eviction policies
- Knowledge of authenticationand security mechanisms, including OAuth2, JWT, secure API handling,and input validation
- Good understanding of systemdesign principles, including SOLID principles, layered architecture,and commonly used design patterns such as Factory, Strategy, and Proxy
- Exposure to DevOpspractices, including version control (Git), build tools(Maven/Gradle), and environment-based configuration management
- Awareness of observabilitypractices, including structured logging, metrics monitoring, anddebugging production issues
- Strong problem-solving,analytical, and communication skills, with the ability to workindependently and in cross-functional Agile teams
Good toHave Skills and Experience
