Job summary

Hocco Industries is seeking a skilled Raw Materials Quality Specialist to ensure quality, safety, proper storage, handling and traceability of RM at the plant. You will verify COA, batch details and expiry dates, maintain records, and coordinate with Stores, QA, Purchase and Production to address RM quality issues.

The role requires a B.Tech/B.E./M.Tech/M.Sc. in Food Technology or related discipline, knowledge of GMP, GHP, HACCP, and familiarity with ERP/SAP and MS Excel.

Qualifications

  • B.Tech/B.E./M.Tech/M.Sc. in Food Technology, Food Science, Dairy Technology or related discipline.
  • FSSAI knowledge is required.
  • Experience with RM quality controls is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect and verify Raw Materials received at the plant as per approved specifications.
  • Perform sampling and inspection of incoming raw materials as per SOP and sampling plans.
  • Verify COA, batch details, expiry dates, manufacturing dates and material specifications.
  • Ensure proper identification, labeling, status tagging and segregation of materials.
  • Monitor storage conditions (temperature, humidity, hygiene, pest control).
  • Ensure FIFO/FEFO implementation for raw materials.
  • Segregate and control Rejected, Hold, Expired and Non-Conforming materials.
  • Monitor material quality during storage and report damage or deviation.
  • Maintain RM inspection, sampling, testing, release and rejection records.

Job description

Role Purpose: Responsible for ensuring the quality, safety, proper storage, handling and traceability of Raw Materials at the plant, ensuring that all materials received and issued for production meet defined quality and food safety standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Inspect and verify Raw Materials received at the plant as per approved specifications.
  • Perform sampling and inspection of incoming raw materials as per SOP and sampling plans.
  • Verify COA, batch details, expiry dates, manufacturing dates and material specifications..
  • Ensure proper identification, labeling, status tagging and segregation of materials.
  • Monitor storage conditions such as temperature, humidity, hygiene and pest control.
  • Ensure proper implementation of FIFO/FEFO for raw materials.
  • Ensure proper segregation and control of Rejected, Hold, Expired and Non-Conforming materials.
  • Monitor the quality condition of raw materials during storage and report any damage, contamination, deterioration or deviation.
  • Maintain proper RM inspection, sampling, testing, release and rejection records.
  • Ensure traceability of raw materials from receipt to issue for production.
  • Coordinate with Stores, Purchase, QA, Production and R&D teams regarding RM quality-related issues.
  • Raise NCRs/Deviation reports for materials not meeting specifications and follow up for closure.
  • Conduct regular RM Store inspections to ensure GMP, GHP, hygiene and food safety compliance.
  • Support internal, customer and external audits related to Raw Material storage and quality.
  • Monitor supplier-related RM quality issues and provide inputs for corrective actions.
  • Support investigation of RM-related production/process issues.
  • Ensure proper implementation of 5S, GMP, HACCP and food safety practices in the RM Store.
  • Maintain appropriate inventory quality records and documentation in ERP/SAP, wherever applicable.
Qualification

B.Tech/B.E./M.Tech/M.Sc. in Food Technology, Food Science, Dairy Technology or related discipline.

Required Skills
  • Good knowledge of Raw Material Quality & Food Safety
  • Knowledge of GMP, GHP & HACCP
  • Understanding of FIFO/FEFO
  • Knowledge of RM sampling, inspection and COA verification
  • Good documentation and record-keeping skills
  • Knowledge of FSSAI requirements
  • Good coordination with Stores, QA, Purchase and Production
  • Basic knowledge of ERP/SAP & MS Excel
Preferred Industry

Candidates from Ice Cream, Dairy, Beverages, Bakery, Confectionery, Processed Foods or FMCG manufacturing would be preferred.
