Job summary

V.Group in Mumbai seeks a Finance Professional to maintain the general ledger for a fleet of vessels and produce timely, accurate management reports. You will manage funding requests to ensure commitments are settled on time and handle invoice payments and payroll efficiently.

Strong Excel and English communication are essential, with a collaborative approach to supporting the Vessel Financial Controller and other departments to explain variances and ensure quality financial controls.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Commerce or equivalent.
• 2–3 years of work experience in accounting processes.
• Good knowledge of MS Office, especially Excel.
• Good English communication, written and verbal.

Responsibilities

• Maintain an up-to-date general ledger for a fleet of vessels (7–8).
• Prepare and review vessel financial data and ensure proper approvals.
• Prepare funding requests to ensure sufficient vessel funding for commitments.
• Pay invoices, payroll and other creditors within terms.
• Prepare reports for clients within timelines.
• Coordinate with Vessel Financial Controller to explain variances.
• Support the Vessel Financial Controller with additional duties.

Overall Purpose of The Job

To maintain accurate financial records for each of the vessels under his/her responsibility and to produce timely, accurate and meaningful management reports for in-house departments and the vessel owners.

Key Responsibilities And Tasks

• To maintain an up-to-date general ledger for Fleet of Vessels (7-8 vessels)
• To prepare and review vessel financial data and ensure it is properly authorised and coded by the relevant departments
• Preparation of all funding requests that always ensures sufficient funding of the vessel to enable all commitments to be settled as per timelines
• Payment of purchase invoices, payroll and other creditors within the agreed payment terms and in line with V.Group policy
• Ensure all reports and requests are prepared for the client within the prescribed timetable
• Liaising with Vessel Financial Controller and other departments in order to provide explanation for Budget variances
• Supporting the Vessel Financial Controller with any other duties that may be necessary

Essential

• Full Time Graduation in Commerce
• 2-3 years of prior work experience in Accounting processes will be an added advantage
• Good Knowledge of MS office specially Excel Skills
• Excellent accounting knowledge.
• Good English communications skills written and verbal.
• Good interpersonal /business skills
• Ability to work on own initiative in a Team environment
• Good organizational & time management skills
• Analytical approach / good problem solving skills
• Good reporting skills
• Competent in Microsoft Office, advanced Excel skills (vlookup, pivot table etc.)

• Ideally, the person would either hold an HND in accounting, an accounting degree, or be at the very early stages of a recognised professional accounting qualification.
