Job summary

Zodiac HR Consultants seeks a Sr Accountant (R2R) to lead the general ledger for a fleet of vessels and drive timely month-end close in a dynamic maritime environment.

You will supervise a team, ensure SLAs, coordinate with vessel owners, and support audits, budgeting, and reporting. Strong Excel and ERP skills, plus excellent English communication, are essential.

Qualifications

• Full time Graduate or MBA with a major in Finance, business or accounting.
• 9+ years of expertise in General Accounting and related domains.
• Experience in accounting, reporting financial systems and interfacing with customers.
• Excellent English communications skills, written and verbal.
• Strong interpersonal and business skills, both oral and written.
• Ability to work on own initiative in a team environment.
• Good organizational and time management skills.
• Strong negotiation and analytical/problem solving capabilities.
• Excellent reporting skills and stakeholder management.
• Competent in Microsoft Office and advanced Excel (VLOOKUP, Pivot)

Responsibilities

• Maintain an up-to-date general ledger for vessels (50-75) under the team.
• Lead and supervise team day-to-day, fostering quality and efficiency.
• Ensure SLAs are met and drive continuous improvement.
• Review Journal Ledger and General Ledger, ensuring accuracy.
• Oversee month-end operating cost and balance sheet reporting.
• Investigate audit findings and resolve discrepancies/non-compliance.
• Coordinate with Vessel owners and internal stakeholders as needed.
• Support internal/external audits and governance processes.
• Develop and document standard processes with other team leaders.
• Assist with budget updates, COA design, and new report formats.
• Manage cash flow and timely payments with groups and MOs.
• Prepare consolidated Fleet Liability reports for group review.
• Escalate issues per governance structure and drive risk mitigation.
• Foster teamwork and skill development among staff.
• Handle cross-department coordination to resolve queries.

Job Title : Sr Accountant R2R

Location: Goregaon West, Mumbai

Key Responsibilities and Tasks

• Ensure an up-to-date general ledger for the set of Vessels (approx. 50-75 Vessels) being managed by the team
• Direct supervision of his/ her team on day-to-day responsibilities, motivate team to achieve highest level of quality, efficiency and meet or exceed all goals. Build a culture of continuous improvement.
• Provide leadership to his/ her team to ensure Service Level Agreements (SLAs) are met.
• Review/Perform Journal Ledger and General Ledger
• Reviewing the month end reporting of Operating cost and Balance Sheet
• Investigate and resolve audit findings, account discrepancies and issues related to non-compliance
• Build strong relationships and trust with VFCs and Vessel owners. Coordinate with Vessel owners in absence of VFC (wherever authorized).
• Facilitate timely issue resolution, including escalation in accordance with governance structure.
• Work with other team leaders to ensure standard process and practices are followed for a specified owner/Management office
• Assist/Identify control risk and propose solutions for process improvements
• Provide internal and external audit support, as required
• Foster communication and teamwork within and across organizational boundaries
• Develop skill sets of team members to be ready for future opportunities
• Coordinate with respective departments (technical / crewing) to resolve any long pending query.
• Responsibility to ensure group and management instructions followed by all in the team and discipline is maintained.
• Coordinate with suppliers (Group & others) to resolve the disputes and manage cash flow for optimum payments.
• Prepare the consolidate Fleet Liability report, analyses and submit to group with comments.
• Check and verify / authorize the payments (as agreed with respective MOs).
• Assist group / MO for additional / new task, like, Budget update, Mapping, creation of Chart of Accounts, creation of new reports format, clients requirements etc.
• Assist group / MO on regular task like, Funding analysis, Fleet liability, exchange revaluation
• Check communication between fleet accountants, senior fleet accountant, VFC, Head Operations and take actions as required
• Any Other responsibility as instructed by MD/Head Operations or Group Finance
