Job summary

Sify Infinit Spaces Limited in Noida (Sector 132) seeks a Fire and Safety SME to develop and monitor fire protection and life safety systems across data center facilities. The role ensures statutory compliance and supports business continuity.

You will lead design reviews for alarms, suppression systems, and emergency procedures, mentor teams, and coordinate with authorities, vendors, and project teams during expansions.

Qualifications

• Bachelors/Diploma in Fire & Safety or related discipline required.
• NEBOSH, IOSH, NFPA, OSHA certifications are a plus.
• Experience with NFPA, NBC, TAC and local fire safety regulations.

About the Role : Fire and Safety SME

Role Objective:

The Fire and Safety SME will be responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring fire protection and life safety systems across data center facilities. The role will ensure compliance with statutory regulations, fire safety standards, and company EHS policies while supporting business continuity and operational safety.

Key Responsibilities

Fire Protection Systems

• Lead the design review, installation, testing, commissioning, and maintenance of fire detection and suppression systems.
• Ensure proper functioning of:
• Fire Alarm Systems
• VESDA Systems
• Sprinkler Systems
• Hydrant Systems
• Gas Suppression Systems (FM200 / Novec 1230 / Inergen)
• Fire Pumps and Jockey Pumps
• Portable Fire Extinguishers
• Emergency Exit and Evacuation Systems
• Conduct periodic inspection, testing, and preventive maintenance of all fire protection equipment.
• Review and validate fire system drawings, layouts, and cause & effect matrix.

Safety and Compliance

• Ensure compliance with local fire department regulations, NBC, NFPA, TAC, OSHA, and other applicable standards.
• Liaise with statutory authorities for fire NOC, audits, approvals, and renewals.
• Prepare and maintain all statutory records, permits, inspection reports, and compliance documentation.
• Conduct internal safety audits and support external audits.
• Identify safety gaps and implement corrective and preventive actions.

Risk Assessment and Incident Management

• Carry out fire risk assessments, hazard identification, and mitigation plans.
• Develop emergency response procedures, evacuation plans, and business continuity measures.
• Lead fire incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective actions.
• Conduct mock drills and emergency preparedness exercises.
• Maintain incident reports and ensure closure of observations.

Training and Stakeholder Management

• Conduct fire and safety training programs for employees, contractors, and facility teams.
• Guide operations, projects, and vendor teams on fire and life safety requirements.
• Coordinate with MEP, Security, Facility Management, and Project teams during expansion or retrofit activities.
• Act as the technical SME for all fire and safety related matters.

Vendor and Project Management

• Manage AMC vendors, fire system contractors, and third-party auditors.
• Review vendor performance and ensure SLA adherence.
• Support new facility projects, expansions, fit-outs, and upgrades from a fire and safety standpoint.
• Participate in FAT, SAT, and integrated systems testing.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelors Degree / Diploma in Fire & Safety Engineering, Mechanical, Electrical, or related discipline.
• Additional certification in Fire & Safety Management / Industrial Safety preferred.
• Certifications such as NEBOSH, IOSH, NFPA, OSHA, or Fire Auditor will be an added advantage.

Experience Required

• 815 years of experience in fire protection, life safety, or EHS.
• Minimum 35 years of experience in data centers, critical facilities, industrial plants, manufacturing, or large commercial facilities.
• Experience in handling fire audits, NOC approvals, and emergency response systems.
• Strong exposure to fire suppression systems, fire alarm systems, and statutory compliance.

Technical Skills

• Knowledge of NFPA, NBC, TAC, and local fire safety regulations.
• Hands-on experience with VESDA, FM200, Novec, Inergen, hydrant, and sprinkler systems.
• Ability to read fire system drawings, P&ID, single line diagrams, and cause & effect charts.
• Knowledge of risk assessment techniques and incident investigation.
• Familiarity with BMS, DCIM, and integrated fire alarm systems.
• Good understanding of data center critical environments and uptime requirements.
