Job summary

Accountables is seeking an experienced Financial Controller to manage accounting operations, support financial statement finalisation, and ensure timely and accurate financial reporting for our clients. The ideal candidate should have strong technical accounting knowledge, excellent communication skills, and the ability to take ownership of financial processes and deliverables.

This is a client-facing role requiring coordination with stakeholders and delivering meaningful financial insights.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of accounting, financial reporting, and book finalisation.
• Experience with book closures and preparation of financial statements.
• Strong understanding of IFRS and applicable statutory requirements.
• Hands-on experience in general ledger management, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong client management and stakeholder coordination abilities.
• Ability to manage multiple engagements and meet deadlines.
• Proficiency in MS Excel and accounting software.

Responsibilities

• Manage end-to-end accounting operations, including GL, reconciliations, provisions, accruals, and closing entries.
• Prepare Balance Sheets, P&L statements, Cash Flow Statements, and supporting schedules.
• Ensure accuracy and compliance with accounting standards and reporting requirements.
• Prepare and review monthly MIS reports, dashboards, and financial analyses.
• Coordinate with auditors and external stakeholders for smooth audit completion.

About the Role

Accountables is looking for an experienced, detail-oriented, and proactive Financial Controller who can manage accounting operations, support financial statement finalisation, and ensure timely and accurate financial reporting for our clients.

The ideal candidate should have strong technical accounting knowledge, excellent communication skills, and the ability to take ownership of financial processes and deliverables.

This is a client-facing role requiring the ability to manage multiple engagements, coordinate with stakeholders, resolve accounting issues, and provide meaningful financial insights to business owners and management.

Key Responsibilities

1. Accounting Operations & Financial Reporting

• Manage end-to-end accounting operations, including general ledger, reconciliations, provisions, accruals, and closing entries.
• Handle monthly, quarterly, and annual book closures.
• Prepare and review Balance Sheets, Profit & Loss Statements, Cash Flow Statements, and supporting schedules.
• Ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with applicable accounting standards and reporting requirements.

2. MIS, Analysis & Financial Planning

• Prepare and review monthly MIS reports, management dashboards, and financial analysis.
• Analyse financial performance, budget variances, and key financial indicators.
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow monitoring.
• Identify accounting inefficiencies and recommend practical process improvements.

3. Client & Stakeholder Management

• Manage client interactions and act as a key point of contact for assigned clients.
• Communicate financial results, accounting issues, and action plans clearly and professionally.
• Coordinate with auditors and external stakeholders to support smooth audit completion.
• Build strong client relationships through reliable delivery and sound financial judgement.

4. Team Collaboration & Process Improvement

• Review and coordinate accounting deliverables and support team members as required.
• Manage deliverables across multiple clients and assignments.
• Follow and improve standardised accounting processes, controls, checklists, and reporting systems.
• Drive efficiency through automation and improvements in accounting workflows.

Candidate Requirements

Essential Qualifications & Skills

• 3+ years of relevant experience in accounting, financial reporting, and book finalisation.
• Practical experience in book closures and preparation of financial statements.
• Strong understanding of accounting principles, IFRS, and applicable statutory requirements.
• Hands-on experience in general ledger management, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong client management and stakeholder coordination abilities.
• Ability to manage multiple engagements and meet deadlines.
• Proficiency in MS Excel and accounting software.

Preferred Skills

• Experience in outsourced accounting, finance operations, or professional services.
• Exposure to cloud accounting and ERP systems such as Xero, SAP, NetSuite, QuickBooks, or similar platforms.
• Experience preparing MIS reports, budgets, forecasts, and cash flow reports.
• Experience coordinating or reviewing the work of accounting teams.
