Role Overview
The Factory Accountant will be responsible for day-to-day accounting and financial control at the Kurla processing facility, covering GRN and stock inward accounting, production data recording, inventory management, vendor coordination, invoicing, and petty cash administration. The role requires close coordination with the Factory Head, Accounts Manager, Store/Production teams, and vendors to ensure accurate, timely, and audit-ready financial records.
Key Responsibilities
Goods Receipt & Stock Inward
- Prepare and verify Goods Receipt Notes (GRN) for all material inward at the Kurla facility.
- Ensure stock inward quantities are reconciled against purchase orders, invoices, and physical receipt.
- Flag discrepancies in quantity, quality, or documentation to the Factory Head/Accounts Manager promptly.
Production Data & System Entries
- Punch daily production detail accurately in the designated Google Sheet trackers.
- Enter and update production and stock data in SAP within defined timelines.
- Maintain consistency between Google Sheet records and SAP entries; reconcile any variances.
MIS & Reporting
- Prepare regular MIS reports covering stock inward, production output, inventory levels, and vendor payments.
- Support month-end and periodic closing with accurate factory-level data.
- Share timely reports with the Factory Head/Accounts Manager and Head Office finance team as required.
Invoicing & Vendor Coordination
- Process and verify vendor invoices for accuracy against GRNs, POs, and agreed rates before approval.
- Coordinate with vendors on invoice queries, documentation gaps, and payment follow-ups.
- Raise sales/internal invoices as applicable and ensure correctness of rates, quantities, and taxes.
Inventory Management
- Maintain accurate inventory records for raw material, packaging, and finished goods at the factory.
- Support periodic physical stock counts/cycle counts and reconcile with system records.
- Report slow-moving, near-expiry, or discrepant stock to the Factory Head/Accounts Manager.
Petty Cash & Other Accounts Tasks
- Handle day-to-day petty cash at the factory disbursement, voucher documentation, and reconciliation.
- Maintain proper supporting documents and approvals for all petty cash expenses.
- Assist with other factory-level accounting and administrative tasks as assigned.
Key Skills & Competencies
- Strong hands-on proficiency in MS Excel (VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, Pivot Tables, SUMIFS, formulas, data reconciliation) - Mandatory.
- Working knowledge of SAP (inventory/production/accounting modules) and Google Sheets.
- Good understanding of GRN, stock inward, and inventory accounting processes, preferably in a food/FMCG/seafood processing environment.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and invoice verification.
- Basic knowledge of GST-compliant invoicing and vendor reconciliation.
- Good communication skills for coordination with vendors, store, and production teams.
- Ability to manage petty cash responsibly with proper documentation discipline.
- Ability to work from the factory location and coordinate across shifts as needed.
Qualification & Experience
- B.Com / M.Com or equivalent degree in Commerce/Accounting.
- 2-5 years of relevant experience in factory/plant-level accounting, preferably in food processing, seafood, or FMCG manufacturing.
- Prior experience with SAP and inventory/production data entry preferred.
- Advanced Excel proficiency is mandatory; candidates will be screened on Excel skills.
