Job summary

Michelin is seeking a CAD design engineer focused on external tire geometry. You will work with CATIA V5/V6 to update and create master models for tread and marking, ensuring compliance with applicable standards.

Your role includes integrating mold manufacturing and usage constraints and contributing to design optimization through performance simulations. The position emphasizes developing scalable, parametric CAD models and documentation to support series declination, while advancing methods to

Qualifications

• 0–5 years of experience in CAD design, mechanical design, automotive, tire, or related engineering domains.
• Hands-on experience with CATIA V5/V6.
• CAD models and nomenclature of external tire geometry (tread/marking) meeting specs, norms and regulations.

Responsibilities

• Update existing CAD models (simple updates or master model usage).
• Create models for simple geometries with or without master models.
• Create models for complex geometries with or without master models.
• Estimate performance using CAD simulation models for design decisions.
• Build parametric CAD models (master models) and documentation for series declinations.
• Evolve methods/tools to improve quality or efficiency of the métier.
• Create animations as needed.

1. 1. Provide definitions of the external geometry of the tire (contact area between the tire and the curing mold)
2. 2. Integrate both tire performance constraints and industrial constraints (mold manufacturing and usage)

KEY EXPECTED ACHIEVEMENTS

0–5 years of experience in CAD design, mechanical design, automotive, tire, or related engineering domains.

Hands-on experience with CATIA V5/V6.

CAD Models and nomenclature of the external geometry of the tire (tread and/or marking) that meet the tire specifications, as well as norms and regulations. These models integrate mold manufacturing /utilization, cost and standardization constraints :

• Updates existing CAD models (simple update and/or use of an existing master model)
• Model's creation for simple geometries with or without master models
• Model's creation for complex geometries with or without master models

• Estimate Performance for the design team using the CAD performance simulation models
• Build Parametric CAD models (master models) and associated documentation, used for the declinaison of a series of dimension or the representation performance area (sculpture or marking)
• Evolution of Methods and / or tools that improve quality or efficiency of the metier
