Job Purpose

To manage procurement and timely availability of CNC machine consumables, engineering supplies and general items required for smooth manufacturing operations, ensuring cost-effective sourcing, inventory control and uninterrupted production.

Key Responsibilities

1. Procurement CNC Machine Consumables

• Handle procurement of CNC machine consumables such as cutting tools, inserts, drills, end mills, milling cutters, tool holders, collets, coolant, lubricants and other machining accessories.
• Coordinate with production, maintenance and tooling teams to understand material requirements.
• Identify suitable vendors and obtain competitive quotations.
• Ensure timely procurement of quality materials at optimum cost.

2. Procurement General Items

• Manage procurement of general consumables, stationery, housekeeping materials, PPE, safety items, hardware and other indirect materials.
• Process purchase requisitions and generate purchase orders.
• Follow up with vendors for timely delivery of materials.

3. Vendor Management

• Identify, evaluate and develop reliable vendors.
• Negotiate prices, payment terms and delivery schedules.
• Maintain vendor databases and track vendor performance.
• Coordinate with vendors regarding quality issues, replacements and returns.

4. Inventory & Stores Coordination

• Monitor stock levels and ensure availability of critical consumables.
• Coordinate with stores for material receipt, stock verification and issue tracking.
• Avoid stock-outs and excess inventory through proper planning.
• Maintain consumption records and identify opportunities for cost optimisation.

5. Documentation & MIS

• Maintain purchase orders, quotations, comparative statements and procurement records.
• Track pending purchase orders and delivery commitments.
• Prepare periodic procurement and cost analysis reports.
• Ensure compliance with company procurement procedures.
• Required Skills & Competencies
• Knowledge of CNC machining consumables and cutting tools.
• Understanding of procurement processes and vendor negotiations.
• Knowledge of inventory management and material planning.
• Proficiency in MS Excel and ERP/SAP systems.
• Good communication, coordination and negotiation skills.
• Analytical ability and cost-conscious approach.

Educational Qualification

Diploma / B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering or any relevant graduate qualification.

Experience

2-6 years of experience in procurement / purchase / SCM, preferably in a manufacturing or engineering industry.
