Job summary

D. Navinchandra & Co. in Mumbai is seeking a Maintenance Technician with mechanical engineering background to handle preventive maintenance and tackle breakdowns on site.

You will work with the maintenance team to ensure equipment uptime and compliance with safety procedures. The role requires hands-on experience with electrical/mechanical troubleshooting, drawings and vendor coordination, and availability for approved shifts including breakdown support.

Qualifications

• Diploma or degree in Mechanical Engineering is required.
• Skilled in electrical and mechanical troubleshooting.
• Experience with drawings, manuals and preventive maintenance planning.
• Vendor coordination and breakdown support experience preferred; jewellery/precision manufacturing exposure is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot breakdowns with the maintenance team within authorised competence; promptly escalate major faults and downtime risks.
• Perform preventive maintenance to approved schedules and procedures; report completion, findings and pending work.
• Support upkeep of electrical panels, DG sets, compressors, vacuum systems, water treatment/RO plants, HVAC (if applicable), ETP and fire-fighting systems within authorised competence; promptly report abnormalities.
• Follow PPE, lock-out/tag-out, machine guarding, electrical safety and chemical-handling procedures; promptly report unsafe conditions.
• Maintain service logs, breakdown reports, energy data and safety-inspection records; support statutory documentation and audits.
• Assist with equipment layout, installation, testing and commissioning to agreed plans with authorised vendors/OEMs.
• Work with technicians, helpers and contract staff on planned tasks; coordinate with Production, Quality, Purchase and Export teams on priorities to support uptime.

Preferred candidate profile

Mechanical Engineering diploma/degree; skills in electrical/mechanical troubleshooting, drawings/manuals, preventive maintenance planning and vendor coordination. Jewellery/precision manufacturing exposure preferred. Safety-conscious, organised and responsive; available for approved shifts and breakdown support.
