Job description

Purpose of the Role

Responsible for planning, engineering, execution, installation, commissioning, and sustainment of conveyor and material handling systems across manufacturing facilities. The role ensures successful project delivery, adherence to quality and safety standards, supplier management, and reliable operation of material handling equipment while supporting plant expansion, modernization, and operational excellence initiatives. The role delivers departmental objectives aligned with Technical Services and PVBU goals.

Job Responsibilities

Project Planning & Execution

• End-to-end execution of conveyor and material handling projects.
• Develop project schedules, resource plans, and execution strategies.
• Coordinate project activities with stakeholders to ensure timely delivery.
• Monitor project progress, cost, quality, and risk mitigation plans.

Mechanical Engineering & Design Review

• Review and validate GA drawings, layouts, and detailed engineering designs.
• Ensure compliance with engineering standards, safety requirements, and operational needs.
• Support equipment selection, design optimization, and technical evaluations.
• Drive standardization and best practices across projects.

Material Handling Systems

• Execute projects involving Skid Conveyors, Slat Conveyors, Roller Conveyors, EMS, Power & Free Conveyors, Lift Systems, and Transfer Mechanisms.
• Support expansion, modification, and modernization of existing conveyor systems.
• Ensure system reliability, maintainability, and operational efficiency.
• Coordinate mechanical integration with automation and controls systems.

Installation, Commissioning & Handover

• Supervise equipment installation, alignment, testing, and commissioning activities.
• Coordinate FAT, SAT, tool buy-off, and acceptance activities.
• Drive punch-point closure and project handover to operations and maintenance teams.
• Support ramp-up activities and stabilize operations after commissioning.

Supplier & Contractor Management

• Evaluate technical proposals and supplier capabilities.
• Coordinate with vendors, contractors, and OEMs during project execution.
• Monitor supplier performance, quality compliance, and delivery schedules.
• Resolve technical and execution-related issues during implementation.

Reliability, Troubleshooting & Continuous Improvement

• Provide technical support for major breakdowns and operational issues.
• Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions.
• Drive productivity, reliability, safety, and cost improvement initiatives.
• Support maintenance teams with technical expertise and knowledge transfer.

Desired Candidate Profile

Education: Diploma in Mechanical Engineering. Experience: 510 years of experience in Conveyor Systems, Material Handling Equipment, Manufacturing Projects, or Automotive Plant Engineering.
