Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering.
• Total experience of 4+ yrs in industrial automation (material handling/ conveyor/ automation projects).
• Proficient in design/drafting tools AutoCAD & SolidWorks.
• Familiar with CE standards.
• Standards & safety: guarding, pinch points, noise, ergonomics; LOTO basics; basic DFMEA.
• Materials & processes: steel fabrication, sheet metal, aluminum extrusions, coatings, tolerances.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end project design from concept to production-ready solutions.
• Meetings with presales teams and HOTO of project with all pros and cons.
• Perform load, torque, power, speed, acceleration calculations for motors/gearboxes.
• Create 3D & 2D drawings with detailed engineering; prepare fabrication drawings.
• Create BOM, material specs, assembly instructions, spare list, maintenance guidelines.
• Conduct design reviews with cross-functional teams.
• Raise ECN for changes and share amendment prices with teams.
• Ensure on-time delivery of drawings and releases to manufacturing.
• Solve issues with revised drawings or concepts for projects.
• Prepare project summaries and product specification sheets.

Job description

Role Overview

Lead end-to-end project design by transforming approved concepts into optimized, cost-effective and production-ready engineering solutions.

• Meetings with presales teams & do HOTO (Handover and takeover) of project with all pros and cons. of project.
• Revalidation of all concept design and B.O. items, (If any points are getting changes while making detail design, need to confirm to presales & projects teams for project costs amendments)
• Perform load, torque, power, speed, acceleration, inertia calculations for motors/gearboxes.
• Create 3D & 2D drawings with detailed engineering. prepare fabrication drawings for frames, brackets, guards, sheet-metal, and machined parts.
• Create BOM, material specification, assembly instruction, spare list, maintenance guidelines.
• Conduct design review with cross functional teams.
• Making overall design with considering overall projects cost. (if any changes needed or in any changes suggested by customer, need to raise ECN (engineering change notes) and sharing amendment prices with projects, presales & sales team).
• Ontime delivery of drawings, design, releasing B.O. & manufacturing indents to purchase engineers.
• To check and solve issues in project by providing revised drawings or concept to projects team.
• Prepare & share project summary, specifications sheets of products & share it to projects teams or technical writers for making projects manual.
• Taking help/consult with presales engineers for concept proving whenever required for any conflicted projects.

Required Technical Skills

• Hands on experience in designing material handling automation solutions i.e., conveyors, Linear gantry, assembly line solutions etc.
• Sound knowledge of design and engineering principles and best practices.
• Calculating various factors to ensure that the design will realistically be possible.
• Sound knowledge of electrical components like PLC, Sensor, VFD etc.
• Sound Knowledge of Cost Estimation of Fabricated item
• Familiar with industry GDNT standards, design and engineering principles and best practices.
• Complete knowledge of assembly automation, pneumatics, sensors, basic controls, and onsite commissioning.

Design Software

• Proficiency in Auto-Cad 2D/3D (Mandatory)
• Proficiency in Solid-Works 2024 and above (Mandatory)
• PDM/PLM: SolidWorks PDM, vault
• Any other CAD software (Optional)

Experience/Education Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering.
• Total experience of 4+ yrs. In industrial Automation. (Material handling industry/Conveyor/Automation project/ NPD).
• Proficient in design / drafting tools Auto CAD & Solid works
• Familiar with industry standards CE.
• Standards & safety: guarding, pinch points, noise, ergonomics, LOTO basics; basic DFMEA.
• Materials & processes: steel fabrication, sheet metal, aluminum extrusions, coatings, tolerances.
• Power transmission: chains, sprockets, gearboxes, couplings, VFD/servo selection (with controls team).
• Gantry/linear systems: stroke/speed/payload sizing; actuators/LM guides/ball screws/rack & pinion.
