Job summary

PeopleStrong is seeking an experienced mechanical design engineer to analyze and design conveyors and related port equipment. You will prepare calculations, sizing, drive selection, specifications, datasheets, and engineering deliverables, while reviewing vendor drawings and bids.

The role requires 3–20 years in material handling or mining gear, strong knowledge of machine design and hydraulics, and proficiency in AutoCAD/Inventor. Chennai-based on-site position with EPC exposure.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Technology or diploma in mechanical engineering with 3+ years in material handling or mining gear.
• Experience in design calculations, sizing, and vendor document reviews.
• Knowledge of Indian and International standards and EPC project experience.

Responsibilities

• Design and analyze belt conveyors, pipe conveyors, stacker reclaimers, and related port equipment.
• Prepare design calculations, datasheets, and engineering deliverables; review drawings and offers.
• Provide technical support during execution, construction, and commissioning; ensure compliance with standards.

Role & Responsibilities:Should have experience in analysis and design of Belt Conveyors, Pipe Conveyors, Stacker Reclaimers, Wagon Tipplers, Feeders etc.Should have detailed engineering experience in experience in stacker reclaimer, port cranes, ship loader, unloader, etc. is requiredPrepare design calculations, equipment sizing, drive selection, technical evaluation & specifications, datasheets, and engineering deliverables.Review drawings, and technical offers to ensure compliance with project specifications and industrial standards.Conducttechnical bid evaluations, vendor offer reviews and provide recommendations for procurement.Reviewand approve vendor documents, calculations, GA drawings, fabrication drawings, and design submissions.Ensure compliance with applicable Indian and International standards, safety regulations, and engineering best practices.Provide technical support to project teams during project execution, construction and commissioning phases.Experience in software like Auto Cad and Inventor for modelling is necessaryQualification, Experience and Skills:Minimum Qualifications:Full-time Diploma or ITI in Mechanical Engineering from a recognized university/institute.Minimum years of experience & Industry Preference:3-20 years of experience in engineering & design of Material Handling, mining, steel or port equipment.Strong knowledge of machine design, drive systems, hydraulics, and structural engineering.Should be able to perform equipment sizing calculations, design validation, and engineering documentation.Experience in engineering consultancy, design centres, or EPC organizations will be preferred.
