Job summary

Larsen & Toubro in Kolkata is seeking an experienced mechanical engineer with a strong background in design, FEA, and vendor specification preparation for heavy equipment used in port and steel plant operations.

The role involves drive selection, component sizing, and analytical modeling using Nastran/Ansys and STAAD, with hands-on CAD work in Inventor/AutoCAD and BOM creation. Prior experience with port equipment is a plus.

Qualifications

• BTech/ITI/DME background in mechanical engineering.
• Experience with drive selection, component sizing for port and steel plant equipment.
• Experience in fabrication drawings and BOM preparation for large equipment.
• Familiarity with FEA and STAAD analysis is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Calculate drive selection and component sizing for various port and steel plant equipment.
• Prepare technical specifications for vendor items such as gearboxes, couplings, brakes, hydraulics, winch systems.
• Perform FEA/structural analysis and buckling checks using Nastran/Ansys; STAAD experience preferred.
• Utilize Inventor/AutoCAD and MS Office for design work and BOM preparation.
• Potentially analyze material flow with EDEM; develop parametric models.

Job Description

You should know to calculate drive selection as well component sizing, hydraulic component selection of Stacker cum Reclaimers, Wagon Tipplers Systems (Rotaside, Crescent, Tandem), Paddle feeders, Twin boom stackers, Barrel reclaimers, Ship Loaders, Port cranes, Steel plant equipment etc. You will be called to prepare technical specifications for vendor items like gearboxes, geared motors, couplings, brakes, hydraulics, winch systems, wire ropes, operator cabins, electric hoists, hydraulic jacks, belt conveyor components - idlers, pulleys, belts, scrapers, etc. FEA analysis using Nastran/ Ansys static structural designs/ buckling designs of different equipment and experience on STAAD analysis is preferred.Experience in Inventor, ACAD and MS office with hands-on experience working on Stacker Reclaimers, Wagon Tipplers, Side Arm Chargers, Paddle Feeders, Port Equipment, Steel plant equipment or in any other equipment etc. and possess expertise in fabrication drawing and bill of material preparation for the above equipment. Experience in EDEM software for material flow analysis & Parametric modelling will be considered as an added advantage.
