Job summary

Gumpro Drilling Fluids Pvt. Ltd. in Mumbai seeks a Mechanical Design Engineer with 5–10 years of experience to design and develop industrial equipment and mechanical systems.

You will prepare GA drawings, 3D models and detailed manufacturing drawings using SolidWorks and AutoCAD, apply GD&T and tolerances, and support fabrication, testing and site modifications.

Qualifications

• 5–10 years of mechanical design engineering experience in industrial equipment.
• BE/B.Tech or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering.
• Experience with SolidWorks and AutoCAD for 3D modelling and GA drawings.
• Strong knowledge of machine design, fabrication processes, materials, GD&T and tolerances.
• Ability to develop manufacturing-ready drawings and BOMs.

Responsibilities

• Design and development of new industrial equipment and mechanical systems.

Role & responsibilities

• Design and development of new industrial equipment and mechanical systems.
• Preparation of equipment concepts, 3D models, General Arrangement (GA), assembly and detailed manufacturing drawings.
• Design of fabricated equipment, structures, frames, skids, tanks, hoppers and sheet-metal assemblies.
• Design and development of individual mechanical components for machining and manufacturing.
• Preparation and verification of fabrication drawings, part manufacturing drawings and assembly drawings.
• Performing mechanical design calculations for shafts, bearings, bolted joints, structures and other components as applicable.
• Selection of suitable materials, bearings, seals, couplings, fasteners and other mechanical components.
• Preparation and verification of BOMs, material specifications and manufacturing documentation.
• Application of GD&T, fits, tolerances, surface finish, welding details and machining requirements.
• Evaluation of fabrication feasibility, manufacturability, assembly requirements and cost optimisation.
• Reverse engineering, troubleshooting and modification of existing equipment and components.
• Coordination with fabrication shops, machining vendors, production, procurement and quality teams.
• Providing technical support during fabrication, machining, assembly, inspection and equipment testing.
• Supporting prototype development, equipment trials, performance evaluation and design improvements.
• Conducting site visits for equipment inspection, measurements, installation support and design modifications.
• Preparation and maintenance of engineering drawings, revision records and as-built documentation.

Preferred candidate profile

• Experience of 5 to 10 years in Mechanical Design Engineering, preferably in industrial equipment design and manufacturing.
• B.E. / B.Tech / Diploma in Mechanical Engineering.
• Software: SolidWorks (3D modelling and assemblies) and AutoCAD.
• Strong knowledge of machine design, fabrication, machining processes, engineering materials, GD&T and tolerances.
• Experience in design calculations, component selection and preparation of manufacturing-ready drawings.
• Practical exposure to fabrication workshops, machining vendors and equipment assembly.
• Ability to independently handle equipment design, component development and manufacturing-related engineering problems.
• Experience in industrial machinery, process equipment, pumps, centrifuges or rotating equipment preferred.
• Proficiency in English and excellent knowledge of MS Office.
