Job summary

John Cockerill in Navi Mumbai seeks an experienced Assistant Manager - Mechanical Design to lead terminal equipment design, develop 3D models and drawings, and coordinate with suppliers and internal teams for on-time delivery.

The candidate should have BE/BTech in Mechanical or Production Engineering with 10–15 years of design experience, expertise in AutoCAD 2D, Autodesk Inventor, and PID knowledge, and familiarity with Vault for data management.

Qualifications

• BE/BTech in Mechanical or Production Engineering from a reputed college.
• 10–15 years of engineering design experience in terminal equipment for steel processing or heavy machines.
• Experience in multinational companies is an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Understand contract requirements and develop basic and detailed designs.
• Lead engineers and draftsmen to carry out activities.
• Plan engineering activities and resource planning.
• Ensure timely completion of activities.
• Prepare 3D models, drawings, and related documentation for engineering.
• Coordinate with suppliers, manufacturing, erection and commissioning for site support.
• Define instruments and develop process instrumentation diagrams.
• Coordinate and manage all engineering design activities across internal teams and external service providers.
• Ensure best available technology in the equipment.
• Communicate with customers and participate in technical discussions.
• Be proactive in continuous improvement and ROE (REX) processes.
• Create and check engineering documents per QMS and Design Approval Matrix.

We are having an excellent job opportunity for the Assistant Manager - Mechanical Design

Key Responsibilities

• Understand the technical contract requirements and develop basic and detailed design for the same.
• Lead team of engineers and draftsmen to carry out engineering activities.
• Planning the engineering activities for the project and resource planning.
• Ensure timely completion of the activities.
• Making design calculation.
• Preparation of 3D models, related drawing, and other documentation for engineering.
• Generating bought out specifications and approving the offers received from suppliers.
• Ensure correctness of the drawings
• Co-ordination with manufacturing for discrepancies and deviations.
• Co-ordination with Erection and commissioning for site support.
• Understand the process requirements, define the instruments needed for the process, develop the process instrumentation diagram.
• Coordinate and manage all engineering design activities across internal teams and external service providers.
• Ensure the best available technology in the equipment.
• Communication with customer, participation in technical discussions with customer.
• Be proactive in the continuous improvement and REX (return on experience) processes.
• Create and check engineering related documents as per the Quality Management System (QMS) and Design Approval Matrix.

Education and Experience

• The candidate should be BE/B TECH in Mechanical / Production Engineering from Reputed college.
• 10 to 15 years of Experience in engineering design of terminal equipment related to steel processing, cold rolling mill or related to Mechanical equipment & machines (material handling, heavy engineering)
• Candidate worked in multinational company will be an added advantage.

Background, Skills, and Competencies

• Auto CAD 2D, Autodesk Inventor for 3D Modelling
• Should have worked in Product Data Management Tools (like Vault)
• Engineering drawings skill and Mechanical design calculations knowledge
• Should have worked on PID and have knowledge of instruments used in process lines.
• Ability to bring innovation in design to improve functionality and reduce cost.
• Good at planning & decision-making skills.
• Good Interpersonal and communication (oral and written) skills.
• Ability to work in an Agile environment in a Collaborative way.
