Job summary

Jacobs in Mumbai seeks an experienced Electrical Design Engineer for primary design of transmission and distribution systems up to 400 kV. You will produce SLDs, cable schedules, and performance with international standards, coordinating with clients and cross‑functional teams.

Required 12+ years in AIS & GIS substations, strong ETAP/SKM, MicroStation, AutoCAD, and Revit skills. Be ready to manage design deliverables and technical reviews on demanding projects.

Qualifications

• BE/BTech/ME/MTech in Electrical or equivalent.
• 12+ years in primary design (AIS & GIS substation experience up to 400 kV desirable).
• Design of transmission and distribution systems up to 400 kV for international regions.
• Prepare SLDs, cable schedules, interconnection schedules and MTO.
• Experience with ETAP, SKM, MicroStation, AutoCAD and Revit.

About You

• BE/B Tech/ME/M Tech Electrical.
• Minimum 12 + years of experience in primary design (AIS & GIS substation experience up to 400 kV is desirable).
• Design (concept, FEED, and detail design) of transmission & distribution systems up to 400 kV for utility companies based on international standards – in Middle East, UK, Australia & US regions.
• Primary design activities: key SLDs, AC/DC SLDs, cable schedules, interconnection schedules, specifications and bulk MTO.
• Broad practical knowledge to design layouts and produce equipment layouts for outdoor switchyards, indoor substations, trench/tray layouts, lighting, earthing & lightning protection.
• Equipment sizing calculations for transformer, generator, HV/LV cable, AC UPS, battery, capacitor banks, conductor sizing, fault level, illumination, earthing and lightning protection.
• Hands‑on experience with ETAP & SKM software.
• Prepare technical specifications and datasheets for electrical equipment such as transformers, DG sets, switchgear, UPS, battery & battery charger, distribution boards.
• Vendor drawing review of all electrical equipment and calculations.
• Technical bid evaluation/documentation.
• Inter‑disciplinary coordination and resolution of design issues.
• Plan, schedule, conduct, and communicate work with team members at all design stages of the project.
• Attend client meetings for technical clarifications.
• Work under challenging workloads with short notice changes.
• Good communication and IT skills.
• Proficiency in MicroStation, AutoCAD and basic knowledge of Revit & substation 3‑D design.
• Proficiency in MS Outlook and MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
