Job summary

Zigsaw is seeking an experienced Engineering Manager (8+ years in software engineering) to lead a cluster of 3–5 Engineering Team Leads, drive people management, cross-team coordination, and operational excellence.

This is a dedicated leadership and governance role, not coding; you will own planning, prioritization, resource allocation, escalations, and engineering standards across multiple teams, while partnering with Product, QA, Customer Success, and Sales.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in software engineering, with 3+ years in people management (managing Team Leads, Tech Leads, or Managers preferred).
• Strong experience in cross-team planning, prioritization, resource management, and delivery.
• Proven track record handling technical, customer, and business escalations, as well as managing stakeholders.
• Experience driving engineering standards, quality, testing, and reliability.
• Pluses: Experience with distributed/multi-location teams, B2B SaaS, high-availability systems, IoT, fleet management, telematics, logistics, or mobility.

Responsibilities

• People Leadership: Manage and mentor 3–5 Team Leads, supporting team performance, growth, hiring, and career development. Develop Team Leads into effective people managers.
• Delivery & Planning: Own cluster-level planning, prioritization, capacity allocation, and delivery across multiple engineering teams. Resolve cross-team dependencies, resource conflicts, and delivery risks.
• Escalation & Alignment: Act as the primary point of contact for business, customer, and cross-functional escalations. Partner with Product, QA, Customer Success, and Sales to align technical execution with business priorities.
• Engineering Governance: Drive consistent engineering standards covering code quality, testing, code reviews, incident management, and reliability. Track metrics such as delivery cycle time, incident rate, MTTR, escalations, and team health.
• Platform & Shared Services: Own initiatives related to monitoring, reliability, autoscaling, resource guardrails, and incident tooling.
