Job summary

TIST Media in Mumbai is seeking an engineering manager to shape and lead the product-focused engineering team. You will still code, review, and own how the team is built, structured, and hired, reporting directly to the Head of Product.

You will drive hands-on development, set coding standards, and ensure CI/CD, testing, monitoring, and incident response are in place as the product scales.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• 4+ years of engineering experience, with 1–3 years in a leadership or managerial role.
• Startup experience strongly preferred.

Job Description:

TIST is building an influencer marketing and AI - driven marketplace product. We are past the early build and now need someone to shape the engineering team around the product we are growing into. This is a hands - on engineering manager role. You will still write and review code, and you will own how the technical team is built, structured, and hired. You will report directly to the Head of Product.

Key Responsibilities

• Build the engineering team. Define what roles we need, when we need them, and what success looks like for each.
• Run the hiring process end to end;sourcing conversations, technical interviews, and final calls on candidates.
• Shape the structure of the technical team against the shape of the product, rather than working to a headcount handed to you.
• Stay hands - on in development. You should have current, on - ground engineering knowledge and use it.
• Own code review and technical standards across the team.
• Help the team upskill and raise the bar on how we build.
• Set up and maintain operational discipline - CI/CD, testing, monitoring, and incident response.

Our Stack

You should be able to work in this stack, not just talk about it.

• Backend: Python and Django, on AWS, with PostgreSQL.
• Web frontend: React with TypeScript, deployed on Vercel.
• Mobile: React Native for iOS and Android.
• Supporting: Celery, Redis, Docker.

What Makes You a Strong Fit

• Experience working in a product-based company is preferred.
• Genuinely hands - on. You can read, write, and judge code across the stack.
• Strong backend judgement, particularly Python, Django, and PostgreSQL.
• A track record of hiring engineers and being right about it.
• iOS capability is valued. Our audience is iOS first, and we expect to move deeper into the Apple ecosystem as traction grows.
• Curiosity about AI, and interest in implementing and experimenting with it inside the product.
• A clear point of view on the space, and the judgement to argue it.
