Overview

We are seeking an experienced and inspiring Engineering Manager to lead and grow our talented software engineering team. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for fostering a high‑performing team culture, driving technical excellence, and overseeing the delivery of complex, scalable, and high‑quality web applications and services. You will empower and guide a diverse team comprising Full Stack Java Engineers, ensuring alignment with product goals and architectural vision.

Experience

10+ years of progressive experience in software engineering, including at least 3+ years in a technical leadership or engineering management role.

Location

Can be located in any of the following cities: Hyderabad, Pune, Mumbai, Bangalore, Chennai. Hybrid.

Qualification

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Software Architecture & Mentorship.
• Lead, mentor, and coach a team of software engineers (Frontend, Backend, and Quality) to foster their professional growth, career development, and technical capabilities.
• Conduct regular one‑on‑one meetings, performance reviews, and provide constructive feedback to team members.
• Foster a collaborative, inclusive, and high‑trust team environment that encourages innovation, ownership, and continuous learning.
• Participate in the recruitment and hiring process to attract top engineering talent.
• Provide technical guidance and oversight, ensuring sound architectural decisions and robust, scalable designs for both frontend (ReactJS, Node.js) and backend (Java, Spring Boot) components.
• Work closely with Staff Engineers to define technical roadmaps, drive best practices, and resolve complex technical challenges.
• Ensure adherence to coding standards, quality metrics, and security best practices across all team deliverables.
• Maintain a strong understanding of the team's technical stack, including ReactJS, Node.js, Java/Spring Boot, various databases (relational and NoSQL), cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), and CI/CD pipelines.
• Oversee the end‑to‑end delivery of features and projects, from planning and estimation to execution, testing, and deployment.
• Collaborate with Product Managers, UX/UI Designers, and other cross‑functional stakeholders to translate product requirements into actionable engineering plans.
• Ensure efficient execution of Agile/Scrum processes, managing project risks and coaching team members.
• Champion a strong quality mindset within the team, working closely with the Senior Quality Engineer to establish robust testing strategies and automation.
• Contribute to the broader engineering strategy and technical vision for the organization.
• Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in web development, distributed systems, and quality assurance.
• Identify opportunities for process improvements, automation, and innovation within the team's operations.
• Serve as a key liaison between the engineering team and other departments, effectively communicating progress, challenges, and technical insights.
• Drive cross‑team collaboration and knowledge sharing to ensure alignment and leverage expertise across the organization.

Requirements

• Experience: 10+ years of progressive experience in software engineering, including at least 3+ years in a technical leadership or engineering management role.
• Technical Acumen: Strong foundational knowledge and practical experience in modern web development technologies, including ReactJS, Node.js, Java/J2EE (Spring Boot preferred), and related state management libraries.
• Backend: Expertise in building scalable distributed systems using Java/J2EE (Spring Boot) and/or Node.js.
• Databases: Experience with relational (e.g., Oracle) and NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB).
• APIs: Proficiency with RESTful and/or GraphQL API design and consumption.
• Quality Assurance Mindset: A strong understanding of software quality principles, test automation strategies (Jest, React Testing Library, Cypress), and CI/CD pipelines, with a commitment to delivering high‑quality software.
• System Design: Experience in designing and architecting highly scalable, performant, and resilient web applications and services.
• Cloud & DevOps: Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and containerization.
• Agile Methodologies: Demonstrated experience leading teams in an Agile/Scrum environment.
• Leadership & Mentorship: Proven ability to lead, motivate, mentor, and grow engineering teams. Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written).
• Problem Solving: Superior analytical, problem‑solving, and decision‑making abilities in complex technical and organizational contexts.

Preferred

• Experience in a high‑growth or startup environment.
• Familiarity with micro‑frontend architectures.
• Knowledge of performance optimization techniques for large‑scale web applications.
• Understanding of AI systems and tools, and experience with AI coding tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot) in an engineering context.
