Job summary

Tekion Corp Bengaluru is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead and grow a backend team responsible for APIs and services powering web experiences. You will mentor engineers, set career paths, and maintain high standards of code quality while delivering scalable solutions in a fast-moving environment.

You will collaborate with designers, product managers and analysts to plan and execute in an Agile setting, guiding architecture and technical strategy for a dynamic product roadmap.

Qualifications

• Bachelor or Master in computer science or related field.
• 10+ years of relevant experience.
• Strong ownership and accountability.
• Excellent Java and OO development skills.
• Experience building and scaling microservices.
• Strong knowledge of relational and NoSQL databases.
• Proven debugging and performance optimization abilities.
• Role model for engineers with focus on code quality.

Responsibilities

• Lead backend engineering team including engineers and managers to build APIs and services.

• Lead our backend engineering team both engineers and managers. This team building the API's and services to power our back-end experiences across web, as well as front-end web development.
• You not only have the technical chops to roll up sleeves and provide technical leadership to major projects, but also build and manage a team of 10-15 top notch engineers.
• Create clear career paths for team members and help them grow with regular & deep mentoring.
• Operating with scale and speed amidst flux, there is just a LOT happening.
• Our world-class software engineers are just getting started -- and as a manager, you guide the way.
• You are their default mentor.
• You set up best practices for development and champion their adoption and at the same time Architect & design technically robust, flexible and scalable solutions.

Interpersonal Skills

• You not only optimize your own code but make sure engineers are able to optimize theirs.
• Perform regular performance evaluation and share and seek feedback.

Strategic thinking

• As an Engineering Manager you manage your business goals, contribute to product strategy and help develop your team.
• You work with designers, business analysts, and product managers to estimate and plan projects in an Agile environment.
• Perform well in uncertainties and collaborate and work with unclear interfaces to other teams in our rapidly evolving organizations.
• You work closely with Product Management, Business Development and Operations team and enable them by providing scalable and high-quality technology solutions at a rapid pace.

Skills & Qualifications

• Bachelor/Master's in computer science or relevant fields
• 10+ years of Relevant Experience
• Strong sense of ownership
• Excellent Java and object-oriented development skills
• Experience in building and scaling microservices
• Strong Knowledge in RDBMS & NoSQL databases
• Strong problem-solving skills, technical troubleshooting and diagnosing
• Expected to be a role model for young engineers, have a strong sense of code quality, and enforce code quality within the team
• Excellent understanding of Debugging performance and optimization techniques
• Experience in Java, MongoDB, MySQL, AWS technologies, ELK stack, Spring boot, Kafka
• Experience in developing any large scale Experience in cloud technologies
• Demonstrated ability to deliver in a fast-paced environment
