Responsibilities
- Team & People Management
- Lead, mentor, and support engineers while setting clear technical direction for the pod.
- Build a high-ownership, growth-oriented culture through coaching, feedback, and career development.
- Conduct performance reviews, identify skill gaps, and help engineers advance in their careers.
- Foster collaboration, accountability, and continuous learning within the team.
- Technical Leadership
- Own the technical architecture and drive engineering design and key technical decisions.
- Contribute hands‑on to complex technical problems and guide senior engineers in implementation.
- Ensure systems are scalable, reliable, and maintainable, following engineering best practices.
- Oversee code quality, testing, CI/CD pipelines, and production reliability.
- Cross‑Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with Product Managers, Designers, Developers, QA, Support, and Operations.
- Align engineering priorities with product and business goals.
- Communicate technical decisions and trade‑offs clearly to stakeholders.
- Define hiring needs and participate in sourcing, interviewing, and hiring engineers to build a high‑performing team.
- Execution & Delivery
- Drive end‑to‑end project execution—from planning to delivery and post‑release support.
- Maintain strong development velocity by removing blockers and optimizing workflows.
- Own team deliverables, releases, and production stability.
Requirements
- 4–7 years in software engineering with proven experience transitioning from individual contributor to manager.
- Strong hands‑on technical expertise in system design, architecture, and engineering best practices.
- Should be able to demonstrate systems or products they have built or led, and discuss architecture decisions, technical trade‑offs, and team leadership experience in detail.
- Experienced in managing, mentoring, and scaling high‑performing engineering teams.
- Thrives in fast‑paced, high‑growth startup or product‑focused environments.
- Excels at making technical decisions that align with business goals while nurturing team development.
- Language‑agnostic; values engineering fundamentals and problem‑solving over specific tech stacks.
- Excellent communication, cross‑functional collaboration, and stakeholder management skills.
