Role Summary
The Engineering Manager is responsible for leading, managing, and coordinating all engineering and technical activities within a project or organization. The role ensures that all design, analysis, and engineering deliverables are completed in accordance with project specifications, applicable standards, budget, and schedule. The Engineering Manager provides leadership to multidisciplinary engineering teams, ensures technical integrity, and promotes efficient design and execution strategies that align with business and project objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage all engineering disciplines to deliver high-quality design and technical documentation.
- Develop and implement project-specific engineering execution plans, design procedures, and standards.
- Oversee the preparation, review, and approval of design deliverables and calculations.
- Ensure engineering activities comply with contract requirements, codes, and regulatory standards.
- Coordinate between engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning teams to ensure design consistency and constructability.
- Manage engineering schedules, manpower planning, and progress reporting.
- Review and approve engineering budgets, forecasts, and resource allocations.
- Oversee the management of technical queries (TQ), deviation requests, and change control processes.
- Conduct design and technical review meetings to ensure alignment across all disciplines.
- Interface with clients, classification societies, and third parties on technical matters.
- Drive innovation and continuous improvement in design and engineering processes.
- Mentor and develop engineering staff to ensure strong technical competency and succession planning.
Education & Qualifications
Bachelor’s or master’s degree in engineering (Mechanical, Civil, Electrical, Naval Architecture, or related discipline). Minimum 15 years of experience in engineering design and management, preferably in EPC / Oil & Gas / Shipbuilding / Industrial Projects. Professional Engineer (PE), Chartered Engineer (CEng), or equivalent registration (preferred). Strong knowledge of international design codes and standards (API, ASME, ISO, ABS, DNV, etc.). Proficiency in project management tools (Primavera, MS Project) and engineering design software relevant to discipline.

Responsibilities
- Concept / FEED Phase: Define engineering scope, execution plan, and technical strategy.
- Detailed Design Phase: Oversee multidisciplinary design activities, reviews, and inter-discipline coordination.
- Procurement & Fabrication: Support technical evaluation of vendors, review data sheets, and ensure design alignment with procurement.
- Construction & Commissioning: Resolve site technical queries, manage design modifications, and ensure as-built documentation accuracy.
- Project Closeout: Finalize technical documentation; lessons learned and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
