Job summary

Larsen & Toubro Limited is seeking a Test Engineer at Coimbatore Campus to lead development and validation of test programs for multiple test systems including Flying Probe, ICT, and EOL. You will define testing standards, automate software, and manage fixtures and hardware to ensure robust, scalable solutions.

The role emphasizes MS&A activities, DFТ adherence, and collaboration with Design, Quality, and Manufacturing teams.

Qualifications

• BE required
• 5–8 years of experience in test engineering
• Knowledge of test methods and design for testability (DFT)

Responsibilities

• Lead development, validation, and optimization of test programs for Flying Probe, ICT, FCT, Boundary Scan, and End-of-Line test systems.
• Define test strategies, standards, and DFT requirements for robust test solutions in NPI and mass production.
• Develop and maintain automated test software, scripts, and diagnostic utilities with version control and backups.
• Lead NPI activities by creating test plans, validating programs, fixtures, and supporting engineering builds during ramp-up.
• Design, validate, and maintain test fixtures, interfaces, probes, connectors, and test hardware for reliable performance.
• Monitor FPY, test yield, failures, retest rates, and coverage; drive continuous improvement.
• Perform MSA, GR&R, correlation studies, and periodic validation for accuracy and repeatability.
• Troubleshoot hardware, software, instrumentation, and fixture issues to maximize tester uptime.
• Coordinate with OEMs/vendors for upgrades, calibration, and technical support.
• Analyze test failures and drive RCA and CAPA with cross-functional teams.
• Support production with issue resolution and ECO/ECN implementation in test programs.
• Develop and maintain SOPs, validation reports, and calibration logs.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Lead the development, validation, and optimization of test programs for Flying Probe, ICT, FCT, Boundary Scan, and End-of-Line (EOL) test systems.
• Define test strategies, standards, and Design for Testability (DFT) requirements to ensure robust and scalable test solutions for NPI and mass production.
• Develop and maintain automated test software, scripts, diagnostic utilities, and version control with proper backup and recovery procedures.
• Lead NPI activities by developing test plans, validating test programs, fixtures, and supporting engineering builds through production ramp-up.
• Design, validate, and maintain test fixtures, interfaces, probes, connectors, and associated test hardware to ensure reliable test performance.
• Monitor test yield, FPY, false failures, retest rates, and test coverage; analyze trends and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
• Perform Measurement System Analysis (MSA), GR&R, correlation studies, and periodic validation to ensure measurement accuracy and repeatability.
• Troubleshoot hardware, software, instrumentation, communication, and fixture-related issues to maximize tester uptime and minimize production downtime.
• Coordinate with equipment OEMs and vendors for machine upgrades, preventive maintenance, calibration, troubleshooting, and technical support.
• Analyze test failures and lead Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and Corrective & Preventive Actions (CAPA) in collaboration with Design, Quality, and Manufacturing Engineering teams.
• Support production by providing timely resolution to tester-related issues and implementing Engineering Change Orders (ECO/ECN) in test programs.
• Develop and maintain SOPs, Work Instructions, validation reports, technical documentation, maintenance records, and calibration logs.
• Ensure compliance with IPC standards, customer requirements, ESD controls, safety regulations, and ISO quality management systems.
• Manage test engineering resources, project schedules, software licenses, fixtures, spares, consumables, and cost optimization initiatives.
• Lead, mentor, and train Test Engineers and Technicians while driving automation, digitalization, innovation, and continuous improvement to enhance test quality and manufacturing efficiency.
