Job Role : FMS - Data Centre Operations & Maintenance (O&M) Job Location : National Stock Exchange, BKC Education : ITI Electrical / Electrician / Diploma Electrical Experience: 1-2 years Work Hours: Shift Duty of 8 Hours (24x7x365 days) Job Description: As a Data Centre Operation Engineer, you will play a critical role in maintaining and optimizing the data centre infrastructure. You will be responsible for the management of all data centre systems, ensuring their reliability, security, and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
OEM / 3rd Party Vendor Coordination:
- Act as the first point of contact for all OEM service partners.
- Schedule, track, and supervise vendor visits for preventive maintenance and breakdown services.
- Ensure service reports and checklists are submitted and reviewed after every vendor visit.
Monitoring & Escalation:
- Monitor infrastructure systems (PACs, UPS, DGs, fire systems, electrical panels, etc.) and promptly escalates anomalies to vendor / OEM.
- Maintain alertness for any alarms, unusual noises, or irregular functioning of systems and take immediate follow-up action.
First-Level Troubleshooting:
- Perform basic visual checks and initial diagnostics to support vendor / OEM in fault identification.
- Provide temporary mitigation (if applicable and safe) while vendor / OEM support arrives.
Routine Inspection & Logging:
- Carry out routine walk-through inspections to check for leaks, temperature anomalies, noise, vibrations, and physical damages.
- Log all observations, temperature/humidity data, and equipment statuses as per the daily checklist.
Permit & Site Access Management:
- Assist in the issuance of Work Permits for OEM/vendor personnel.
- Ensure adherence to safety protocols, visitor logbooks, and equipment entry/exit tracking.
- Assist in supervising third-party vendors during scheduled maintenance and AMC visits.
Documentation & Reporting:
- Maintain updated service logs, vendor / OEM reports, and asset maintenance history.
- Generate daily, weekly, and monthly reports for facility health, calls attended, and pending vendor / OEM issues.
Compliance & Safety Oversight:
- Ensure vendor / OEMs follow site-specific safety and operational guidelines during work execution.
- Report any safety violations, near-misses, or non-compliance incidents.
Shift Handover & Team Support:
- Ensure proper shift handover with complete documentation of unresolved issues and scheduled vendor / OEM visits.
- Support cross-functional teams (security, housekeeping, NOC) in maintaining facility readiness.
- Work in rotational shifts including night shifts and weekends.
- Be available on-call during emergencies or escalations.
Manage and monitor Data Centre setup, including electrical panels, DG System, HT / LT Transformer, lighting, distribution network, UPS and Precision Cooling equipment, and Fire/Safety & Security systems. Work schedule changes depending on specific site needs. Shifts can be up to 12-hours and may rotate on a predefined schedule. Provides any other engineering activities as required by the Critical Facilities Operations and Maintenance management team.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Any Graduate, ITI Electrical Preferred Preferred - Proven experience as a Data Centre Engineer or in a similar role with hands-on experience managing Data Centre infrastructure or Electrical Facility.
- Electrical Maintenance - Knowledge of LT/HT panels, circuit breakers, UPS, and DG sets
- Hands-on experience in cable laying, termination, and fault troubleshooting.
- Familiarity with Building Management Systems (BMS), monitoring sensors, and alarm systems
Soft Skills & Other Competencies:
- Strong observation and troubleshooting ability
- Willingness to work in shifts (24x7 rotation where required)
- Team coordination & communication skills
- Basic knowledge of safety protocols and PPE usage
- Ability to log maintenance activities in MS Excel or digital systems
- Quick response under breakdown conditions or alarms
- Read and interpret equipment manuals and schematic diagram
