Job summary

CERATIZIT India Pvt. Ltd in Bengaluru seeks an experienced Production Engineer to plan and execute manufacturing of solid carbide tools.

You will optimize CNC grinding, coating, inspection, and packaging, ensuring on‑time delivery, quality standards, and cost targets while coordinating with design, maintenance, and supply chain teams. The ideal candidate has 5–8 years in cutting tools manufacturing, strong tool knowledge, and hands‑on CNC Grinding experience with Surface, WALTER, or Rollomatic

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree / Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related.
• 5–8 years in cutting tools manufacturing, CNC grinding, precision machining, or tool production.
• Strong knowledge of Solid Carbide Cutting Tools, End Mills, Drills, Reamers, Taps, and Indexable/Special Purpose tools.
• Hands-on with CNC Tool & Cutter Grinding Machines such as Surface, WALTER, Rollomatic or equivalent.
• Understanding of metal cutting principles, tool geometry, carbide grades, grinding, and tool manufacturing methods.
• Knowledge of production planning, capacity utilization, process optimization, and shop floor management.
• Experience with SPC, GD&T, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement.
• Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate, and execute production activities for Solid Carbide Tools, Indexable Tools, and Special Tools.
• Monitor and optimize CNC tool grinding, edge preparation, coating coordination, inspection, and packaging.
• Ensure adherence to schedules, quality, delivery, and cost objectives.
• Analyze and improve machine utilization, cycle times, productivity, and OEE.
• Coordinate with Design, Quality, Maintenance, Planning, and Supply Chain teams for smooth flow.
• Monitor tooling performance and process capability to meet customer specs.
• Ensure proper utilization of machines, manpower, and materials to control costs.
• Support NPI by validating processes and establishing production standards.
• Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and environmental standards.

TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Plan, coordinate, and execute production activities for the manufacturing of Solid Carbide Tools, Indexable Tools, and Special Purpose Cutting Tools to meet production targets.
• Monitor and optimize manufacturing processes including CNC tool grinding, edge preparation, coating coordination, inspection, and packaging operations.
• Ensure adherence to production schedules, quality standards, delivery commitments, and cost objectives.
• Analyze and improve machine utilization, cycle times, productivity, and overall equipment effectiveness (OEE).
• Coordinate with Design, Quality, Maintenance, Planning, and Supply Chain teams to ensure smooth production flow and timely order execution.
• Monitor tooling performance, process capability, and product quality to ensure compliance with customer specifications.
• Ensure proper utilization of machines, manpower, and materials to achieve optimal production costs.
• Support new product introduction (NPI) activities by validating manufacturing processes and establishing production standards.
• Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and environmental standards within the manufacturing facility.

PROFILE & REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor's Degree / Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related discipline.
• 5-8 years of experience in cutting tools manufacturing, CNC grinding, precision machining, or tool production environments.
• Strong knowledge of Solid Carbide Cutting Tools, End Mills, Drills, Reamers, Taps, Indexable Tools, and Special Purpose Tools.
• Hands-on experience with CNC Tool & Cutter Grinding Machines such as Surface, WALTER, Rollomatic, or equivalent.
• Good understanding of metal cutting principles, tool geometry, carbide grades, grinding processes, and tool manufacturing methods.
• Knowledge of production planning, capacity utilization, process optimization, and shop floor management.
• Familiarity with quality tools, SPC, GD&T, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement methodologies.
• Effective communication and coordination skills with cross-functional teams.
