Job summary

PeopleStrong is seeking an Engineer - Plant Layout & Design to independently execute plant layout and piping design activities. The role requires coordinating with stakeholders, interpreting PFDs, P&IDs, and ensuring design outputs meet client and company standards.

The candidate should have 5–10 years of experience in process industries and be proficient in 3D design tools such as S3D, PDMS, E3D, AutoCAD and Navisworks.

Qualifications

• Requires 5–10 years of experience in plant layout and piping design.
• Experience with Reformer, Fired Heater, petrochemical or chemical processes is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of applicable codes and engineering practices.

Responsibilities

• Execute assigned engineering activities within defined parameters with minimal guidance from Lead Engineer.
• Prepare high-quality deliverables within budget and schedule; own assigned responsibilities.
• Identify, discuss and resolve interface issues with other engineering disciplines.
• Apply client, international, and company standards during engineering execution.
• Interpret PFDs, P&IDs, vendor drawings and implement them in detailed design.
• Demonstrate proficiency in S3D, PDMS, and E3D for layout and piping design.
• Use AutoCAD, MicroStation, SPR, Navisworks for design review and deliverables.
• Extract 2D drawings and piping isometrics from 3D models.
• Prepare and check material take-offs as required for project execution.
• Check piping isometrics for technical accuracy and compliance.
• Coordinate with internal disciplines, suppliers, clients, and project management consultants.
• Represent departmental interests with internal stakeholders.
• Lead small projects or act as Area Lead for design areas.
• Demonstrate teamwork on multiple small to mid-size projects.
• Communicate clearly across multidisciplinary and multicultural teams.

Role Definition:

The role is responsible for independently executing assigned engineering activities within plant layout and piping design, ensuring high-quality deliverables in line with project requirements.

The position typically functions as an Area Engineer or Area Lead, with accountability for executing assigned work independently while coordinating effectively with relevant stakeholders.

• Demonstrate proficiency in S3D, PDMS, and E3D for plant layout and piping design activities.
• Use AutoCAD, MicroStation, SPR, Navisworks, and similar tools effectively for design review and deliverable preparation.
• Extract 2D drawings and piping isometrics from S3D or E3D models.

Preferred Skillset/Software:

• Ability to execute assigned plant layout and piping design areas, as well as small projects, independently.
• Working knowledge of PDMS, E3D, S3D, MicroStation , SPR , Navisworks , and related engineering design tools .

Education & Experience:

• Minimum 5–10 years of experience in plant layout and piping design for Reformer, Fired Heater, petrochemical, chemical, or similar process industries, with a good understanding of applicable codes, regulations, and engineering practices for facility design.
