Job summary

Pradeep Metals invites a maintenance professional to oversee preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance of plant machinery in forging and heavy engineering environments. You will troubleshoot hydraulic/pneumatic systems, lead technicians, and ensure high machine availability while minimizing downtime.

The role requires 5–7 years in defence or heavy industry with hands-on maintenance of presses, conveyors, and material-handling equipment, plus TPM/5S and ISMS awareness.

Job description

Role & responsibilities

Relevant experience in forging, automotive, auto components, or heavy engineering industries. Responsible for preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance of plant machinery and equipment. Hands-on experience in maintenance of forging presses, hammers, trimming presses, conveyors, material-handling equipment & Utilities. Strong knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems, including pumps, valves, cylinders, accumulators, and pipelines. Troubleshoot and repair mechanical systems involving gearboxes, bearings, shafts, couplings, chains, belts, and lubrication systems. Ensure maximum machine availability and minimum production downtime through effective maintenance practices. Prepare and execute preventive maintenance schedules and ensure timely completion. Analyze recurring equipment failures and conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA) to implement permanent corrective actions. Monitor and improve MTBF, MTTR, OEE, machine availability, and maintenance performance. Maintain equipment history, breakdown records, preventive maintenance checklists, and other maintenance documentation. Coordinate with production, electrical, quality, and other departments to resolve equipment-related issues. Manage maintenance activities during planned shutdowns, machine overhauls, and major repair work. Support installation, commissioning, modification, and improvement of new and existing machinery. Identify critical spare parts, maintain inventory levels, and coordinate with purchase and vendors for timely availability. Implement TPM, 5S, Kaizen, and continuous improvement initiatives to improve equipment reliability and reduce maintenance costs & also aware about ISMS Audits. Ensure compliance with LOTO, safety procedures, machine guarding, and permit-to-work requirements during maintenance activities. Read and interpret mechanical drawings, equipment manuals, hydraulic/pneumatic circuits, and technical specifications. Lead and coordinate maintenance technicians, contractors, and external service providers as required. Strong problem-solving, analytical, communication, and team-handling skills with the ability to work effectively under production pressure. Preferred candidate profile

Degree / Diploma in Mechanical Engineering from a recognized university / institution. B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering with additional certification / training in Maintenance Management, Reliability Engineering, TPM, or related areas. 5 7 Yrs of relevant experience, preferably in the Defence Industry / Ordnance Factories. Relevant experience in maintenance of forging, automotive, auto-component, heavy engineering, or similar manufacturing industries, with hands-on experience in mechanical maintenance of production machinery, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, utilities, and material-handling equipment.
