Job summary

General Mills in Mumbai seeks a Maintenance & Reliability Engineer to enhance plant productivity and reduce costs through reliability programs. You will develop preventive maintenance, optimize spare parts, and support CMMS-based analytics.

The role emphasizes cross-functional collaboration with engineering teams, vendors, and safety leadership to drive continuous improvement and operational excellence.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor degree in engineering in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, Production, Electronics, Telecommunication or Instrumentation.
  • Experience: 2 years in equipment maintenance and reliability.
  • Technical: experience in Reliability or Controls & Systems Engineering, multitasking under deadlines.
  • Soft: good communication and learning agility.

Responsibilities

  • Understand asset care management strategy and create preventive maintenance plans for packaging and processing equipment.
  • Develop expertise on CMMS systems like Maximo and MQIS and track KPIs (uptime, maintenance costs).
  • Support reliability improvement projects and collaboration with plant teams and vendors.
  • Create, maintain, and follow process documentation; strive for continuous improvement.
  • Lead with safety and work in cross-cultural virtual teams.

OVERVIEW

Responsibilities require the incumbent to possess functional expertise in manufacturing plant engineering along with customer relationship skills to virtually lead projects which assess, solve, and improve plant productivity and optimize manufacturing costs by leveraging Reliability, Controls and Systems Engineering

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

75% of Time:

Support Reliability Improvement:
  • Understand Asset Care Management Strategy.
  • Create preventive maintenance plans for packaging and processing equipment while referring equipment manuals, drawings, pictures, videos and historical data.
  • Help identify critical spare parts to be stocked to bring down repair time at lowest inventory cost.
  • Support plant and corporate engineering teams to establish best practices for equipment maintenance and reliability.
  • Develop expertise on CMMS systems viz., Maximo, MQIS.
  • Developing knowledge base on key GMI technologies covering both process and equipments.
  • Track key performance indicators (KPIs) related to equipment uptime, reliability, and maintenance costs.
  • Develop data acquisition and data automation tools and perform initial analysis.
  • Engage to understand impact of work delivered on equipment uptime and maintenance cost.

25% of Time:

Project Management & Collaboration
  • Support reliability improvement projects alongside Project Leads.
  • Ensure projects are completed on time and aligned with organizational objectives.
  • Coordinate with plant teams and vendors to help ensure successful project execution.
  • Help to develop knowledge base on platform processes, systems, and technologies.
  • Work effectively in a cross-cultural virtual team using influence and collaboration.
  • Lead with Safety.
  • Work alongside peers and share/develop best practices and elevate the teams ability to tackle business questions.
  • Create, maintain, and adhere to process documentation and strive for continuous improvement.
  • Live by championship values and recognize others who demonstrate the same.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Education: Bachelors degree in engineering in any one: Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, Production, Electronics, Telecommunication, Instrumentation
  • Experience: 2 Years of experience in equipment Maintenance & Reliability
  • Technical Skills:Demonstrated experience in the Reliability or Controls and Systems Engineering domain, prioritize and complete multiple tasks on tight deadlines.
  • Soft Skills: Good Communication and learning agility skill.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelors degree in engineering in any one: Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, Production, Electronics, Telecommunication, Instrumentation.
  • Any relevant Certification in Reliability/Controls
  • 3 years of experience
