Job description

Job Description:

This role functions as a centralized, cross-functional engineering support position that plays a critical part in sustaining Fords vehicle program lifecycle through the integration, change control, and Bill of Materials (BOM) management activities it oversees. Positioned at the intersection of multiple disciplines, it serves as the essential link between Design Release (DR) Engineers, Manufacturing, Purchasing, Finance, and Supplier teams, coordinating efforts across these groups to ensure that every engineering change introduced into the program is technically validated, logically sequenced, and governed through Fords formal change management processes. This coordination prevents conflicting or poorly timed changes from disrupting the program and ensures that all stakeholders remain aligned as designs evolve. In parallel, the role carries direct responsibility for preserving BOM data integrity across systems, ensuring that CAD data and BOM records remain accurately aligned, and confirming that Configured Digital Vehicle (CDV) reporting reflects the true, current state of the vehicle configuration. By absorbing these detailed, process-intensive responsibilities, the role significantly reduces the administrative burden placed on DR Engineers, freeing them to dedicate their time and expertise to core design and engineering work rather than change documentation and data reconciliation tasks. In doing so, the position not only enables greater engineering productivity but also acts as a safeguard for the broader program, protecting critical timing milestones, controlling costs associated with rework or errors, and ensuring system compatibility across engineering, manufacturing, and supplier platforms throughout the vehicle programs lifecycle.

Responsibilities
1. Change Integration Management
  • Review, process, and track engineering change requests through Fords change management systems (e.g., WERS, PLM tools, BOM applications).

  • Coordinate cross-functional reviews with engineering, manufacturing, purchasing, and supplier teams to assess change impact on cost, timing, tooling, and part compatibility.

  • Facilitate Change Control meetings, ensuring proper sign-off of parts through concern and notice.

  • Understand parts change history, revision levels, and configuration for parts, BOMs, and software releases.

  • Analyze requirements associated with proposed changes and support DR Engineers in releasing parts.

  • Track change implementation timelines and elevate delays or conflicts to stakeholders.

  • Raise Initial Program Release Change Management Forms (IPR-CMFs) for the P-release phase and strategically group parts/notices to streamline downstream releases.

  • Track CMFs through Integration and Finance workstreams, driving issues to resolution for timely system closure.

2. BOM Management Data Integrity
  • Ensure the integrity, accuracy, and alignment of the Bill of Materials (BOM) within FEDEBOM and WERS.

  • Monitor, analyze, and resolve error states in BOM Health reports for New Tooled End Items (NTEI) and Carry Over (CO) content.

  • Execute mandatory BOM updates for Publish Point Review (PPR) events, ensuring attribute completeness, correct usage, and buildability coverage.

  • Audit and update components within FEDEBOM to achieve precise CAD-to-BOM alignment, enabling Final Data Judgment (FDJ).

  • Align FEDEBOM data with Service reports and manage Alternative CAD Part Number (ALT CAD PN) updates, coordinating with the CDV team.

  • Maintain Technical Information Bulletin (TIB) integrity by reviewing, updating, and removing parts associated with invalid buildable combinations.

  • Perform BOM sign-offs for Carry Over (CO) content and NTEIs (upon engineer request).

3. CDV (Configured Digital Vehicle) Reporting Support
  • Support various BOM and report generation tasks based on Microsoft Excel templates and VBA Macros.

  • Coordinate with engineers on reports and BOM-related tasks and support requests.

  • Apply basic understanding of automotive systems and sub-systems to support accurate reporting.

4. Cross-Functional Collaboration Liaison
  • Partner with DR Engineers to translate technical design requirements into administrative system updates, reducing engineering administrative burden.

  • Interface with the Engineering Cost and Sourcing (ECS) team to communicate new part requirements and track cost/tooling updates within specific CMFs.

  • Provide agile, high-priority support for urgent program requests, system issues, and troubleshooting within the BOM environment.

  • Support DR Engineers in releasing proposed changes through relevant systems throughout the vehicle program.

Qualifications
  • Bachelors degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Automobile, or related discipline); a degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, or Information Technology is also acceptable for BOM-focused activities.

  • 2-5 years of experience in vehicle integration, change management, BOM management, or technical program coordination, preferably within the automotive industry.

  • Proficiency in Ford core systems, including Teamcenter (TCE), WERS, FEDEBOM, GPDS, JIRA, 3DExperience (3Dx), and Change Management Forms (CMF).

  • Strong understanding of Engineering Documentation, BOM structures, Revision control practices, and CAD-to-BOM alignment.

  • Knowledge of PPAP processes and the vehicle development lifecycle, including P-release phase and Publish Point Review (PPR) events.

  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills, with high attention to detail and data accuracy.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (including advanced functions, Pivot Tables, Charts, and VBA Macros), PowerPoint, Word, and reporting/dashboard tools.

  • Flexibility to work across time zones and diverse cultures, given extensive interaction with global stakeholders.
