Job summary

Schaeffler India is looking for a Functional Safety Engineer to join the SW&F (CCP) team in Bengaluru. You will implement, integrate, and develop embedded safety software components, focusing on safety integrity mechanisms and safety functions in automotive environments.

You will work on FSC/TSR analyses, design safety features, participate in ISO 26262 and ASPICE processes, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure traceability and robust safety solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electronics, Electrical or Embedded Systems.
• 5–8 years of hands-on AUTOSAR and embedded software experience.
• Strong C/C++ programming and automotive software development exposure.
• Familiarity with ISO 26262, ASPICE, and safety analyses.
• Experience with AUTOSAR safety concepts and traceability.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain safety-critical embedded software per FS requirements.
• Analyse FSC/TSRs and implement safety concepts and diagnostics.
• Design safety mechanisms, perform unit/integration testing and reviews.
• Ensure ISO 26262/ASPICE compliance and end-to-end traceability.
• Collaborate with System, Hardware, Software, Test and Safety teams.

General Information

Schaeffler India is looking for a Functional Safety Engineer to join the SW&F (CCP) team in Bengaluru. Responsible for Implementation, integration, configuration and development of embedded safety software components, with focus on embedded Safety integrity mechanism and Safety Software functions, applying state of the art Automotive Technologies, Engineering Development Tools and Processes.

Your Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain safety-critical embedded software according to Functional Safety requirements.
• Analyse and implement Functional Safety Concepts (FSC) and Technical Safety Requirements (TSRs).
• Design and implement software safety mechanisms, diagnostics, fault detection, and fault handling strategies.
• Develop software in compliance with ISO 26262 and Automotive SPICE processes.
• Create software architecture and detailed design documents for safety-related functions.
• Perform software unit testing, integration testing, and verification activities.
• Conduct code reviews, static analysis, and compliance checks.
• Maintain end-to-end traceability between safety requirements, design, implementation, and test cases.
• Collaborate with System, Hardware, Software, Test, and Functional Safety teams.
• Support safety audits, assessments, and customer reviews.
• Debug and resolve safety-related software issues identified during development and validation
• Support safety analyses including HARA, FMEA, FTA, and FMEDA.
• Integrate and configure AUTOSAR BSW components using EB Tresos and/or Vector DaVinci Configurator (Or any other SW configurator tool)
• Knowledge on MCAL(IO, PWM, ICU, PORT, ADC, WDT, SENT, SPI, GTM, Etc..) configuration for Infineon TC3xx, Tc4xx (TriCore), Renesas, and NXP microcontrollers

Your Qulaification

• B.E. / B.Tech in Electronics, Electrical, Embedded Systems, or related engineering discipline
• 5 to 8 years of hands‑on experience in AUTOSAR and embedded software development.
• Strong programming skills in C/C++
• Experience with automotive software development and ECU architecture.
• Good understanding of Functional Safety standards such as ISO 26262.
• Familiarity with software development lifecycle and V-Model processes.

Technical Skills

• Strong understanding of AUTOSAR layered architecture: MCAL, ECU Abstraction, Services, RTE, and COM stack
• Knowledge on CAN/CAN-FD, SPI communication protocols
• Proficiency in C programming for embedded targets (MISRA-C awareness preferred)
• Working knowledge of automotive development processes: ASPICE, ISO 26262 (Functional Safety)
• Software Safety Requirements Development
• Safety Mechanism Implementation
• Software Architecture and Design
• Unit Testing and Integration Testing
• Requirement Management Tools (DOORS, Polarion)
• Configuration Management Tools (Git, SVN)

• TÜV Functional Safety Certification is an advantage
