Job summary

WPP Production in India is seeking an Email Developer to design, build, and optimize campaigns within our CRM platform. You will work with creative and project teams to ensure emails are engaging and technically solid.

The role requires strong HTML/CSS, knowledge of responsive design, and experience with ESPs. You will implement personalization, A/B testing, and cross-client compatibility, while maintaining version control with Git.

About the role

The Email Developer plays a crucial role in designing, developing, and optimizing email campaigns within our CRM platform. This role requires a strong understanding of email development best practices, front-end technologies, and CRM integration. You will collaborate closely with the creative, project management, and other stakeholders to ensure email campaigns are engaging, effective, and align with campaign requirements.

Role & responsibilities

• Develop and maintain responsive email templates using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, ensuring compatibility across various email clients and devices.


• Integrate email templates with our CRM platform AJO, MoEngage, or ACv8 leveraging modular libraries, asset management, and other tools.


• Collaborate with PM and design teams to translate creative concepts into functional email campaigns.


• Implement email marketing best practices, including A/B testing, personalization, and dynamic content.


• Troubleshoot and resolve email rendering issues across different email clients and platforms.


• Maintain version control using Git and adhere to established development workflows.


• Stay up to date with the latest email marketing trends and technologies.


• Contribute to the ongoing improvement of our email development processes and tools.


• Document code and processes clearly and concisely.

Preferred candidate profile

Must have skills:

• 1+ years of hands-on email production experience in relevant industry executing marketing campaigns.


• Highly proficient in coding html emails, ability to write CSS, and trouble-shoot for mail client-specific limitations.


• Experience in coding emails for responsive design is required.


• Familiarity with dynamic personalization.


• Ability to manage multiple deadline-oriented projects concurrently and thrive in a fast-paced environment.


• Internally motivated, able to work proficiently in an independent and collaborative capacity.


• Experience working with one or more Email Service Providers (ESP).


• Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git).


• Understanding of design tools like Figma or Adobe Suite.

Good to have skills:

• Prior experience with Adobe Journey Optimizer or MoEngage.


• Familiarity with audience segmentation and its use in dynamic personalization.


• Familiarity with event-based payloads for email campaigns.


• Knowledge of CRM and campaign management.


• Ability to train/support others on the technical aspects of email development.


• Understanding of marketing principles resulting in branding building, driving traffic and revenue


• Understanding of CAN-SPAM and email best practices.


• Familiarity with email testing and QA tools.


• Knowledge of accessibility guidelines for email design.


• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
