Job description

Key Responsibilities

A. Electrical Operations & Maintenance

• Lead all shift electrical maintenance activities for production machines, utility equipment, and auxiliary systems.
• Ensure quick response and resolution of electrical breakdowns to minimize production losses.
• Monitor and maintain VFDs, PLCs, HMIs, servo drives, control panels, and automation systems.
• Plan and execute preventive maintenance activities for motors, panels, drives, transformers, and electrical infrastructure.
• Ensure effective shift handovers with clear communication of pending jobs, breakdowns, and safety concerns.

B. Power Distribution & Utilities

• Monitor and maintain HT/LT distribution systems, transformers, bus ducts, MCCs, and APFC panels.
• Ensure optimal power factor and energy-efficient operation of electrical systems.
• Support DG set operations during power interruptions and ensure safe load transfer.
• Coordinate with utility teams for electrical support to compressed air, steam, cooling, and other plant services.
• Monitor energy consumption and identify opportunities for energy optimization.

C. Automation & Control Systems

• Provide first-level troubleshooting support for PLC-based systems (Siemens, Allen Bradley, or equivalent).
• Monitor control systems and identify faults in automation circuits, sensors, and field devices.
• Ensure healthiness of control panels, safety interlocks, emergency stop systems, and field instrumentation.
• Coordinate with OEMs and engineering teams for advanced troubleshooting and system improvements.
• Support digitalization and machine monitoring initiatives.

D. Safety & Statutory Compliance

• Ensure strict adherence to electrical safety standards, LOTO procedures, and Permit-to-Work systems.
• Conduct regular safety inspections of electrical installations and utility areas.
• Ensure compliance with applicable electrical regulations, statutory requirements, and factory safety standards.
• Investigate electrical incidents, unsafe conditions, and near-misses and implement corrective actions.
• Promote a strong safety culture across the electrical maintenance team.

E. Documentation & Reporting

• Maintain electrical maintenance records, breakdown reports, PM logs, and energy consumption data.
• Ensure accurate documentation of breakdown analysis, corrective actions, and spare consumption.
• Track critical spare inventory and coordinate replenishment requirements.
• Prepare and submit shift-wise and monthly maintenance reports.

F. Team Leadership & Development

• Lead and supervise electricians, technicians, and contract workforce across shifts.
• Allocate work based on priorities, skill levels, and operational requirements.
• Coach and develop team members in troubleshooting, maintenance practices, and safety procedures.
• Ensure effective shift coordination and knowledge transfer between teams.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives in maintenance, safety, and reliability.
