Job summary

Star Power Structural Projects Llp is seeking an Electrical Design Engineer to prepare and review electrical layouts, SLDs, and schedules. You will coordinate with HVAC, plumbing, and architectural teams, perform load and short-circuit calculations, and ensure compliance with IS/IEC/NBC/CEA standards.

Strong AutoCAD and Excel skills are essential for detailed drawings and BOMs. Role requires collaboration with client teams, vendor reviews, and providing technical input for tenders and on-site

Responsibilities

• Prepare electrical designs, layouts, SLDs, load schedules, cable schedules, equipment schedules, BOQs/MTOs, and detailed drawings.
• Review project specifications, tender documents, architectural drawings, and client requirements.
• Develop and review SLDs, lighting & power layouts, cable routing, earthing layouts, panel & load schedules.
• Perform load calculations, voltage drop, short-circuit, cable sizing, and protection coordination.
• Select transformers, DG sets, cables, bus ducts, panels, UPS, and other electrical equipment.
• Prepare BOQs/MTOs from approved drawings and project needs.
• Develop detailed drawings using AutoCAD and other electrical design software.
• Coordinate with HVAC, plumbing, firefighting, architectural, structural, and civil teams.
• Review vendor drawings and submittals; prepare technical specs and material submittals.
• Ensure designs comply with IS/IEC/NBC/CEA standards; attend client meetings and incorporate revisions.
• Support estimation/tendering with technical inputs and quantities; provide site execution support.
• Conduct site visits when required and maintain revision control and documentation.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare electrical designs, layouts, SLDs, load schedules, cable schedules, equipment schedules, BOQs/MTOs, and detailed engineering drawings.
• Review project specifications, tender documents, architectural drawings, and client requirements.
• Develop and review:
• Single Line Diagrams (SLD)
• Lighting & power layouts
• Cable routing and cable tray layouts
• Earthing & lightning protection layouts
• Panel schedules
• Load & cable schedules
• Equipment schedules
• Perform connected load, maximum demand, load balancing, voltage drop, short-circuit, cable sizing, and protection coordination calculations.
• Select and size transformers, DG sets, cables, bus ducts, panels, UPS, APFC panels, and other electrical equipment.
• Prepare electrical BOQs/MTOs based on approved drawings and project requirements.
• Develop detailed drawings using AutoCAD and other electrical design software.
• Coordinate electrical designs with HVAC, plumbing, firefighting, architectural, structural, and civil teams.
• Review vendor drawings and technical submittals.
• Prepare technical specifications and material submittals.
• Ensure designs comply with applicable IS, IEC, NBC, CEA, and client/project standards.
• Attend client/consultant meetings, address technical comments, and incorporate revisions.
• Support estimation/tendering teams with technical inputs and quantities.
• Provide engineering support to site execution teams and resolve design-related issues.

Technical Skills

• AutoCAD Mandatory
• MS Excel – Good working knowledge
• Electrical design/calculation software – Preferred
• Revit MEP / BIM – Advantage
• Good knowledge of electrical load and voltage-drop calculations
• Knowledge of HT/LT distribution systems
• Ability to interpret architectural, structural, HVAC, and plumbing drawings

Experience in designing or coordinating:

• HT/LT electrical distribution systems
• Transformers and HT/LT panels
• DG & AMF systems
• Bus ducts
• Cables and cable trays
• Lighting and small power systems
• Earthing and lightning protection
• APFC systems
• UPS systems
• Fire alarm and ELV systems
• Solar PV systems – Preferred
• Testing & commissioning requirements
