Job summary

Thompsons Hr Consulting is seeking a Senior Electrical Designer for Chennai, with 13+ years of experience in electrical design for switchgear and substations. You will prepare equipment layouts, diagrams, BOMs and 3D models, interfacing with Civil, Mechanical and C&I teams to ensure code compliance.

Responsibilities include lighting, earthing and protection layouts, vendor drawing reviews, and adherence to Indian and international standards. Chennai-based role with on-site work emphasis.

Qualifications

• 13+ years of relevant industry experience.
• Diploma in Electrical engineering required.
• Experience with switchgear, GIS/AIS up to 400 kV is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare equipment layouts for switchgear buildings and substations.
• Create single line diagrams, metering and protection logic diagrams.
• Develop cable tray, duct bank, trench layouts and BOMs.
• Prepare lighting, earthing and lightning protection layouts.
• Interface with Civil, Mechanical and C&I disciplines.
• Model equipment, trays, ducts in 3D (E3D, SP3D).
• Review vendor drawings and ensure compliance with codes.

Roles and responsibilities:

• Preparation of equipment layout for Switchgear buildings , Transformer ,Switchyard (GIS and AIS upto 400 kV), etc.,
• Preparation of Single line diagram , Metering and Protection, Logic diagram
• Preparation of cable tray, cable duct bank, trench layout and its BOM
• Preparation of Cable tray support drawing and BOM
• Preparation of Lighting layout
• Preparation of earthing layout
• Preparation of Lightning protection layout
• Interface engineering with Civil, Mechanical, C&I discipline
• Modelling of equipment ,trays, duct bank, cable trench ,etc in 3D platform(E3D , SP3D)
• Preparation of Lighting calculation
• Vendor drawing review
• Awareness of Quality guidelines
• Good understanding of Indian and International codes
