Job summary

Saint Gobain, a glass manufacturer, is seeking an experienced Shift Electrical Engineer / Electrical Maintenance Technician for its Sriperumbudur facility near Chennai. The role requires 3–7 years of hands-on electrical maintenance in a manufacturing plant, with a diploma in Electrical Engineering or related field.

Responsibilities include operation and maintenance of HT/LT systems, transformers, motors, switchgear, and VFDs, along with SAP PM and energy conservation practices.

Qualifications

• Experience in operation, maintenance and troubleshooting of electrical equipment in a manufacturing plant.
• Knowledge of HT/LT switchgear, transformers, motors, MCC/MPCC panels, VFDs and associated drives.
• Familiarity with SAP PM / maintenance management and energy conservation concepts.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain HT/LT switchgear, transformers, motors, switchyard equipment, and electrical panels.
• Maintain 11 kV/440 V power receiving and distribution systems, circuit breakers, protective relays, MCC, MPCC, UPS, battery chargers, and EOT cranes.
• Troubleshoot DOL, Star-Delta, soft starters, and VFDs.
• Handle AC/DC motors, industrial lighting, plant electrical systems, and interlocking schemes.
• Implement preventive and predictive maintenance to minimize downtime.
• Understand electrical drawings, automation panels, PLCs, encoders, and proximity sensors.
• Monitor power factor, reactive power, synchronization, earthing, energy conservation.
• Manage electrical spares, inventory and maintenance materials through SAP.
• Coordinate with contractors, purchase teams and cross-functional departments.

Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Electrical Maintenance professional to handle the operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of electrical equipment and power distribution systems in a manufacturing plant.

Key Responsibilities

• Follow industrial safety standards, IMS, 5S/6S, WCM, and ISO systems.
• Participate in Kaizen, continuous improvement, and employee involvement initiatives.
