DP Mathematics Teacher | IB Mathematics AA & AI | SL & HL

Location: Bloomingdale International School, Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh

Key Responsibilities

DP Mathematics Teaching & Learning

• Plan and deliver engaging lessons for IB DP Mathematics AA and/or AI at SL and/or HL.
• Follow the relevant IB Mathematics subject guide, curriculum framework, and assessment requirements.
• Develop conceptual, inquiry-based, and problem-solving learning experiences.
• Build strong mathematical reasoning and communication skills among students.
• Connect mathematical concepts to real-world applications and interdisciplinary contexts.
• Differentiate instruction to support students with varying abilities, learning styles, and academic needs.
• Use appropriate technology and digital tools to enhance mathematical learning.
• Promote academic honesty and responsible use of technology.

Mathematical Skills & Student Development

• Develop students' abilities in mathematical thinking, modelling, analysis, interpretation, and problem-solving.
• Encourage students to explain, justify, communicate, and reflect on mathematical solutions.
• Create opportunities for students to apply mathematics to real-world situations.
• Encourage curiosity, perseverance, resilience, and confidence in mathematical learning.
• Provide additional academic support and intervention to students where required.

IB Assessment & Internal Assessment

• Prepare students for IB DP Mathematics Internal Assessment (IA) requirements.
• Guide students in developing mathematical explorations, modelling, investigations, and appropriate research questions.
• Support students in understanding and applying IB assessment criteria.
• Provide timely and constructive feedback throughout the IA process.
• Prepare students for DP examinations and other assessment components.
• Maintain accurate records of student achievement, assessment, and progress.
• Participate in moderation and standardization activities as required.

Student Mentoring & Wellbeing

• Provide academic mentoring and guidance to DP students.
• Support students in managing workload, deadlines, examinations, and IA requirements.
• Identify students requiring additional academic support and implement appropriate interventions.
• Encourage a positive and supportive classroom environment.
• Work collaboratively with pastoral and academic teams to support student wellbeing.

Collaboration & Professional Responsibilities

• Collaborate with Mathematics and DP colleagues to ensure curriculum continuity and alignment.
• Participate in departmental planning, DP meetings, moderation, and standardization.
• Work with colleagues to develop interdisciplinary learning opportunities.
• Support students with Extended Essay or other academic activities where appropriate.
• Contribute to school events, academic initiatives, and co-curricular activities.
• Participate in professional development and IB subject-specific training.
• Communicate effectively with parents and guardians regarding student progress and learning needs.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Mathematics Education, Engineering, Statistics, Physics, Education, or a related field.
• Master's degree in Mathematics, Education, or a related discipline will be an advantage.
• Relevant teaching certification/licensure as applicable.
• 3+ years of secondary/senior secondary mathematics teaching experience preferred.
• Experience teaching students in the 16-19 age group is highly desirable.
• Experience teaching IB DP Mathematics AA and/or AI is preferred.
• Strong understanding of mathematical concepts, pedagogy, and assessment practices.
• Strong ability to use technology effectively in mathematics teaching.

IB Experience

• IB DP Mathematics experience is preferred but not mandatory.
• Candidates with strong senior-secondary mathematics teaching experience from CBSE, ICSE, Cambridge, IGCSE, or other recognized curricula are encouraged to apply.
• IB Mathematics training or workshop participation will be an advantage.
• Experience with AA, AI, SL, or HL will be highly valued.
