Job summary

Mahindra And Mahindra Ltd. in India seeks a Maintenance Engineer to lead preventive and predictive maintenance across packing machines, driving reliability and availability. You will analyze root causes, reduce MTTR, improve OEE, train operators, and ensure safety through LOTO and TPM practices.

Responsibilities include maintaining logs, updating schedules, identifying cost-saving opportunities, and supporting Kaizen and Lean initiatives to enhance productivity and equipment performance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, Mechatronics or related field.
  • Certifications in TPM, Maintenance Management, Safety or Automation are an advantage.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure timely execution of preventive maintenance activities for all packing machines.
  • Attend and resolve machine breakdowns within defined response times.
  • Maintain machine reliability and availability as per targets.
  • Support improvements in Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).
  • Monitor and reduce unplanned downtime.
  • Train operators on basic maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • Maintain maintenance logs, checklists, and equipment history records.
  • Update maintenance schedules and SOPs regularly.
  • Identify and implement cost-saving and productivity initiatives.
  • Participate in Kaizen, TPM, and Lean Manufacturing activities.

Job description

2. Breakdown Maintenance
  • Attend and resolve machine breakdowns within defined response times.
  • Reduce Mean Time to Repair (MTTR).
  • Analyze root causes of recurring failures and implement corrective actions.
  • Achieve targeted machine uptime and availability.
  • Support improvements in Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).
  • Monitor and reduce unplanned downtime.
4. Safety & Compliance
  • Ensure adherence to safety procedures during maintenance activities.
  • Implement Lockout-Tagout (LOTO) and other safety standards.
  • Maintain compliance with statutory and company requirements.
5. Spare Parts Management
  • Maintain optimum inventory of critical spares.
  • Ensure timely procurement and availability of required spare parts.
  • Reduce maintenance costs through effective spare utilization.
6. Documentation & Records
  • Maintain maintenance logs, checklists, and equipment history records.
  • Update maintenance schedules and SOPs regularly.
  • Ensure accuracy and availability of maintenance documentation.
  • Identify and implement cost-saving and productivity improvement initiatives.
  • Participate in Kaizen, TPM, and Lean Manufacturing activities.
  • Recommend equipment modifications to improve reliability and performance.
8. Quality Support
  • Ensure machines operate within specified quality parameters.
  • Minimize packing defects resulting from equipment malfunction.
  • Support audits and quality compliance requirements.
9. Training & Team Development
  • Train operators on basic maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • Develop maintenance team skills through knowledge sharing and cross-training.
  • Promote a culture of ownership and continuous learning.
10. Cost Control
  • Optimize maintenance expenditure within budget.
  • Reduce breakdown-related losses and maintenance costs.
  • Improve energy efficiency and equipment utilization.
Experience

Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field.

Relevant certifications in TPM, Maintenance Management, Safety, or Automation will be an added advantage.
