Qualifications

15+ years of experience in infrastructure engineering, operations, lifecycle management or related leadership roles

Proven experience managing large infrastructure organizations (50+) in an enterprise environment

JOB PURPOSE

We are looking for a Director of Infrastructure Lifecycle to lead the end-to-end infrastructure lifecycle across Plan, Build, Run / Operate, Secure, and Optimize capabilities within ISM.

This role is accountable for reliable, secure, and scalable infrastructure services across an organization of approximately 80+ team members. The Director will lead managers and technical leaders across infrastructure planning, provisioning, operations, security, storage, backup and recovery, performance, capacity, compliance, and service support.

This role requires a hands-on, execution-oriented leader who is comfortable operating at both strategic and tactical levelsable to dive into operational challenges, provide direction, manage risk, and unblock teams when needed.

This role is focused on end-to-end infrastructure lifecycle management and operational resilience, with strong experience across Windows, Linux, and Unix provisioning; virtualization; middleware; infrastructure security and patching; storage; backup and recovery; performance management; and capacity optimization.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

Infrastructure Lifecycle Ownership

Own end-to-end outcomes across the infrastructure lifecycle: Plan, Build, Run / Operate, Secure, and Optimize.
Set priorities and operating plans aligned to ISM objectives, service commitments, risk, and business needs.
Provide leadership across infrastructure provisioning, virtualization, middleware, service support, security, storage, backup and recovery, performance, and capacity.
Drive visibility into service health, operational risks, dependencies, capacity constraints, and lifecycle priorities.
Step in to resolve complex infrastructure and service challenges and provide hands-on direction where required.

Leadership & Organization Building

Lead and develop managers and technical leaders across infrastructure lifecycle functions.
Oversee an infrastructure organization of approximately 60+ team members across engineering, operations, security, storage, backup, and support roles.
Build leadership capability within managers, driving accountability, ownership, and clear decision-making.
Establish a culture of service excellence, operational discipline, continuous improvement, and collaboration.

Plan & Build

Own capacity forecasting, trend analysis, and resource planning to anticipate infrastructure demand.
Ensure effective infrastructure provisioning across Windows, Linux, and Unix environments.
Provide direction for virtualization and middleware platforms, including WebSphere, with a focus on stability and supportability.
Translate demand and lifecycle needs into executable build plans with clear ownership, timelines, and dependencies.

Run / Operate

Drive dependable day-to-day infrastructure operations and service support across the environment.
Establish operating discipline for incident resolution, problem management, maintenance, and operational readiness.
Partner closely with Network, Platform Engineering & Collaboration, and SMO teams to manage cross-tower dependencies and service outcomes.
Communicate clearly on operational priorities, risks, service impacts, trade-offs, and recovery actions.

Secure & Protect

Ensure strong infrastructure security practices, including Microsoft Defender administration and patch management.
Oversee storage management, backup and recovery, disaster recovery, and data protection capabilities.
Drive compliance, control adherence, and resilience across infrastructure services.

Optimize & Continuously Improve

Drive performance management and capacity management to improve reliability, utilization, and service quality.
Identify opportunities to simplify operations, improve processes, and strengthen team effectiveness.
Use service and operational insights to prioritize continuous improvement across the infrastructure lifecycle.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS

Required Qualifications

Bachelors degree in computer science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field required; MBA or relevant masters degree preferred
15+ years of experience in infrastructure engineering, infrastructure operations, infrastructure lifecycle management, or related leadership roles
5+ years of experience leading managers of managers or multiple infrastructure teams
Proven experience managing large infrastructure organizations (50+) in an enterprise, service-oriented environment
Strong experience across the infrastructure lifecycle, including planning, provisioning, operations, security, storage, backup and recovery, performance, capacity, and service support
Experience working in global, matrixed environments with distributed stakeholders and cross-functional technology teams
Strong technical grounding in Windows, Linux / Unix, virtualization, middleware, storage, backup / DR, infrastructure security, and patch management, including tools such as Microsoft Defender
Ability to engage in technical discussions and provide direction on infrastructure architecture, operational risk, resilience, performance, capacity, and lifecycle trade-offs

Preferred Qualifications

Experience working in a Global Capability Center (GCC) or comparable global delivery model
Experience partnering across network, platform engineering, collaboration, and service management functions
Familiarity with enterprise monitoring, patch management, capacity planning, backup / recovery, compliance, and service management practices
Experience scaling infrastructure teams and operating models in evolving organizations
