Job summary

Simplify Healthcare, a pure product company in Pune, India, seeks a Finance Controller to shape product‑company financial discipline with ARR/MRR tracking, ASC 606 revenue recognition, deferred revenue schedules, and R&D capitalization decisions.

The Controller owns close, controls, and compliance for the entity, partnering with product and customer success leadership on key SaaS metrics that matter in a product business.

Qualifications

• Chartered Accountant (CA) or equivalent (CPA, ACCA), 10-13 years post-qualification experience.
• Experience in a SaaS or healthcare technology product company with ASC 606 revenue recognition and SaaS metrics.
• Working knowledge of Ind AS and US GAAP.
• Experience with ERP/billing systems suited to subscription businesses (Quickbooks, Tally).

Responsibilities

• Own monthly, quarterly, and annual close, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
• Prepare P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow statements in line with group reporting formats.
• Manage revenue recognition for subscription/license contracts under ASC 606, including deferred revenue and contract modifications.
• Track SaaS metrics: ARR, MRR, churn, net revenue retention, and gross margin by product line.
• Ensure the entity's numbers roll up cleanly into group consolidation.

Simplify Healthcare is a pure product company, and this Finance Controller role should be built around product-company financial discipline: ARR/MRR tracking, revenue recognition under ASC 606, deferred revenue schedules, R&D cost capitalization vs. expensing, and customer-level profitability. The Controller owns close, controls, and compliance for the entity, and partners with product and customer success leadership on the metrics that matter in a SaaS/product business.

Key Responsibilities

• Own monthly, quarterly, and annual close, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
• Prepare P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow statements in line with group reporting formats
• Manage revenue recognition for subscription/license contracts under ASC 606, including deferred revenue and contract modifications
• Track and report SaaS metrics: ARR, MRR, churn, net revenue retention, and gross margin by product line
• Ensure the entity's numbers roll up cleanly into group consolidation

Controls & Compliance

• Design and enforce internal controls, including approval matrices, reconciliations, and segregation of duties
• Ensure statutory compliance (tax filings, regulatory returns, and jurisdiction-specific requirements)
• Manage the statutory and internal audit process end to end
• Maintain compliance with Ind AS and US GAAP as applicable, given the entity's product sold into US healthcare clients

Cost & Margin Management

• Track R&D spend and evaluate capitalization vs. expensing of software development costs
• Monitor cost of goods/cost to serve for the product (hosting, support, implementation) and gross margin by client
• Support pricing and packaging decisions with margin analysis
• Intercompany & Transfer Pricing
• Manage intercompany transactions and reconciliations with other group entities
• Support transfer pricing documentation for cross-border product development and support arrangements

Business Partnering

• Act as the finance point of contact for Simplify Healthcare's product and leadership team
• Support annual budgeting and forecasting, including R&D investment planning
• Provide analysis on client contract terms, especially multi-year and enterprise deals with healthcare payers/providers

Qualifications

• Experience in a SaaS or healthcare technology product company is important here, ideally with direct exposure to ASC 606 revenue recognition and SaaS metrics
• Working knowledge of Ind AS and US GAAP
